HOW ABOUT A COLLAB?
It’s early in the morning around 3 AM, we can see “Ava” is starting her laptop and opening “Fiddlehead Magazine” (a website for writers). She seems quite tense and searching for some inspiration and motivation.
In the background, all the walls are filled with Ava’s posters, on which she is performing on the stage. She is a Singer. There we can see a lot of Awards on her Book Self. On the couch, we can see a newspaper with a headline
“IS THIS THE START OF AVA’S DOWNFALL?”
Ava’s latest album “The L.A Drop” has failed to impress the audience. Her fans are not happy with her recent work.
The newspaper was one month old. It’s been more than a month. She has been isolated herself. She haven’t done anything in this period. She does not even talk to her friends. Meanwhile, on the website Fiddlehead Magazine, she found a beautiful poem. She started reading it, and a little smile appeared on her face. She felt a connection with the lines. She immediately went to the page and checked out a few more posts on that page. She liked the work of this artist, and wanted to connect with him, and then she checked the information. The name of the page is “The Poetry Studio”. She tried to gather a little more information, but there's very little information available. So, she just commented on one of the posts “Loved your work... How about a collab?”
On the other side of the story, it’s Rajasthan, India. It's the time of evening, there is a boy named “Jangir” sitting on the roof of his house, having a notebook a pen and a cigarette in his mouth. He’s trying to write something and connect the dots of his thoughts. He then takes a puff of his cigarette and suddenly gets a thought. He immediately opens the notebook and completes the creation. He gets a notification on his phone. He checks, it’s from the Fiddlehead Magazine website. Someone has liked and commented on one of his poems, which he has posted on the page. The comment was “Loved your work... How about a collab?” He’s just confused and happy because all the messages he gets from this website are irrelevant.
Before 6 Months,
It’s the Result Day at Rajasthan University. Jangir has graduated as a Bachelor of Technology. Now his family wants him to do a job. Jangir is a passionate writer. While he was in college, he used to write skits and jingles for FM Radio for pocket money and poetry and songs for himself.
“Pannu” (His best friend) is searching for him on the final day of college. He asks his classmates" have you seen Jangir?" but they have no idea about him. Now, Pannu understands where to find him. Pannu goes to the terrace and opens the door. There we can see Jangir sitting on the edge of the roof, with his notebook and a cigarette in his mouth.
Pannu: Bhc**d at least aaj ka din to normal insaan ki tarah sab k saath spend kr skte ho Writer saab.
Jangir: Wahi to kr rha hu... Teri kami thi, Tu bhi aagya. (After thinking for 2 minutes)
Pannu yaar main kya karunga aage, Shayad ab is diary ko Bye kehne ka time aa gya hai.
Pannu: Abey tu Negative naa ho, Sun mere paas..
Jangir: Bro Negative na hou, Last 3 months main yahan k saare production house k mailbox bharr k aa chuke hai hum, Positive reply chod.. Kisi ki gali bhi nhi aai hai abhi tak.
Pannu: f**k*r, Gaali to deserve krta hai tu, baat kaatne k liye, Listen.. Have you heard of “Fiddlehead Magazine”? I know nhi suna hai, To sunn.. It’s a paid website for writers all over the world.
Jangir: Paid... Bro Seriously?
Pannu: Paid to hai, Or paise bhi dollars main lagte hai. All over the world readers hain, even a few big names are also associated with this magazine. I know we can’t pay. Pr ek loophole hai. Harr saal unka “Yearbook” competition aata hai. All over the world writers aate hai participate krne, jisme participants ko apni story k synopsis likhne hote hai in 300 words, Agar top 50 main aaye.. Then you can post anything for a lifetime, or agar top 5 main select hue to tumhari Story aayegi unki yearbook main, and you get 300 Dollars per quarter and free copies of the book to distribute. Bs 10 Dollars registration amount hai.
Jangir: Pannu mere bhai... Tujhe ye sab kaise pta laga?
Pannu: Mere Dad Fiddlehead website k CEO hain bhai. Abey Net pe padha hai sab, Aur sun I have already registered for you, and you owe me thanks and 10 dollars for that. Ab bs mere Writer apni kahani keh daal 300 Shabdo main.
“After this, Jangir submits the synopsis of one of his stories.”
It’s been two weeks; the result is about to be announced on the website. Jangir and Pannu are sitting in Pannu’s room waiting to see the result. They check the result. Jangir’s story has not been selected in the top 5. But he made it in the top 50. Now, he can post all his work on this website. Jangir’s is happy. But Pannu is not very happy. He knows his friend’s potential. He wanted him to be selected for the top spot. But Jangir is happy. He hadn’t imagined this either.
Then Jangir starts posting his work on the website. He’s super excited and every 15 days he posts his newest creation.
Now, almost 6 months have passed. He is continuously posting, but now he is not happy about it at all. He hasn't got any good response. All he gets is spam comments about publishing a book for 499 dollars.
Then, after all this, he gets a comment from an account named “Makani Hana” that “Loved your work... How about a collab?” He is totally confused. He is almost sure it was spam. He calls Pannu immediately.
