Myra’s Pov I should not have gone there but still I found myself answering his call— as usual. When it came to Orin, I tend to lose my self-will and bend to whatever he asked of me. He was my biggest flaw and damn it, if I don’t get my feelings under control— I might harm Kaelis. I didn’t want her to be in the crosshairs of whatever was going on between Orin and I. ‘What if she is his mate?’ Isla— my lycan roared. “His mate?” I spit out. “She is a Luna who doesn’t know who she is. How can she be his mate?” ‘We can’t rule out the possibility,’ she was restless. “She is a wolf and cannot be his mate. Besides, Orin doesn’t have a mate, does he?” I asked as I tried to shake off the unease I felt. ‘None that we know of. His last mate died because she wasn’t strong enough to accept his lycan,’ “She wasn’t his mate but he let her die, regardless,” I snorted. I knew about the curse that had plagued Orin but had sworn to not tell anyone but he kept treating me like I was nothing— just his secret and human diary that he can dump everything on. I could not allow a spy— more or less a wolf… a dog to take what was rightfully mine. Only the blind would see Orin and not be attracted to him. The goddess took her time and made him to perfection. His eyes were way more enchanting than any other I had ever seen… believe me, I had seen a lot. I didn’t blame Kaelis when I saw her stare at him during the festival… I allowed it because I wanted her to join me and drool over the one man I had wrapped around my fingers… ‘Wrapped?’ Isla cut me off. ‘He has you wrapped around his fingers.’ “I am his 911,” I shot back at her. I sucked in my teeth as I rolled my eyes to what Isla had said. I had him where I wanted… although he didn’t know it yet but I was letting him take his time then when I came to collect he would be left with no choice. I didn’t know what he had seen in Kaelis and the way she had babbled about him— on and on about him, made me want to rip my ears off and not listen to her delusions. But the way he talked to her at the clinic sparked something different and I had never seen in Orin before. He had always been nonchalant and carefree but with Kaelis he was a different person. That was why I had to make her see him in his primal form and him going wild was the icing on the cake. I didn’t expect it to go that bad but it did and that was what I thought. Still, the way she had run after him, into the dead of the night had made me scared that I could not make her back off. I had gotten home and had barely sat down when a loud bang landed on the door— I almost jumped out of my skin. I struggled to open the door. “What do you want?” “The king has asked for you,” the guard said. His face was stoic and stiff. “You didn’t have to bang the door so hard,” I corrected him but he ignored me. “Give me a second.” I picked my bag and couldn’t even freshen up as I went out with the guard. In the throne room, Soren was seated in all his power. His left hand rested on his jaw while his other hand tapped on the seat handle, in a very precise rhythm. I walked in slowly as the guards left me alone with the Lycan King. “You didn’t have to send a guard to get me,” I said, my voice was sharp but lacked power. “I grew restless,” he said as he came down from his throne. He was a tall and attractive man but failed in comparison to Orin. He couldn’t hold a torch to the beauty that Orin had but he was well… okay. “What do you want?” I questioned. “Answers, woman. What the f**k us going on?” He snapped at me. I looked at him but didn’t say a word, instead I walked round him like a predator circling its prey. “You worry too much, Soren.” I motioned for him to sit. “You shouldn’t let minor discomfort trouble you.” He sat down on a chair that stood beside one of the huge pillars in the throne room as he let out a heavy sigh— so loud that it echoed through the walls of the room. Getting me to be a part of Kaelis’s circle was his idea and I was more than happy to see how much a mutt could survive and grow— so I took it. “What did you find out?” He asked again but this time his voice was calm and relaxed. “Well, she still hasn’t remembered anything and is mostly stuck at the clinic doing healing duties. But nothing about her is suspicious,” I answered him. “The spies that…” “Did you send….” I gasped. “Soren! You have grown a lot,” I applauded him. Now, this balled Soren was who I could work with and not some spineless swine who got his power because his daddy gave it to him. “And Orin?” “What about him?” I requested. There was no way I was going to tell him about what happened earlier— he would lose it and I was not going to let that happen. Never! “Nothing concerns him with the spy,” I said but my voice was trembling. I tried hard to hold it still then his eyes flickered as he looked at me as if he knew that I was hiding something. “Don’t lie to me, Myra. I had seen the way they talk and that isn’t any mere…” “There is nothing going on with the two of them. Orin will remain without a mate and you will get to keep your throne. I will make sure of it, my lord.” I swayed my hips in a very seductive way as I sat slowly on his thighs. I caressed his face full with his facial hairs as I planted a soft kiss on his lips but he quickly pushed me off and sprang to his feet. “I told you that I wasn’t interested any longer,” he shouted at me and that sent shivers through my body. “I know you are tense,” I said as my hands worked all over his body. “I heard the queen isn’t doing too well anymore and you have been stressed lately. So, be a good boy and let me help you ease the tension.” My voice sounded light and soft. I moved to his ears and flicked it with the tip of my tongue and I felt him tense under it. That told me I was going to get my way. “You always liked your ears licked, didn't you?” I smiled as I planted a kiss on his lips— this time deeper than the former. He gripped me so hard as he returned the kiss— he was hungry and I wouldn’t blame him. Having a queen who didn’t match your s*x drive was a disaster but I was here to lend my help. He raised me and carried me on the council table then he pulled my pant apart before thrusting in hard. I could only imagine Orin f*****g me right now because that would be the climax of my life but I had to made do with this faux king. No, I didn’t like him but he is definitely an end to a means.
