"I hate you . I have never loved you . I only wanted you for your money and fame, and now , all that is gone, so what do I need you for ? I don't need you for anything , you ugly hoe. I'll be getting married to your sister , and when I get appointed as the CEO of my father's company She'll be more honorable than you.
You uneducated b***h".
Those words kept ringing in Meris's ears as she staggered along the sidewalk , tears streaming down her pretty face as she giggled between sobs.
Two bad news in one day.
She wasn't really shocked about Liam's betrayal; she had seen it coming. She knew he never liked her but she he was bent on making things work —especially since he told her he was going to propose to her by the end of the month. What hurt her the most was that her sister —her flesh and blood— was the one he picked , and they were both ridiculing her.
Maybe her night would have been better, maybe she would have just cried herself to sleep, if she hadn’t heard about her replacement at the modeling agency. That shattered her completely.
She continued to walk down the road, her chest heavy, her breath faster than normal , her knees weak.
She stunk of alcohol , having been drinking all evening . Occasionally , she laughed and muttered inaudible words to herself . Then she stopped abruptly by a sign , as if she had been given some miraculous sense of direction .
This wasn't the way to her house .
She didn't even know where she was going . She had been walking for minutes —perhaps an hour . She was lost , confused and still drunk .
Then she felt it.
One drop.
Then another.
It started to rain.
She didn't bother to find shelter . She didn't even care if she caught a cold. She could just die , for all she cared— she had lost her cause for living . All she wanted was for a cab to pull up and take her home.
She stood in the downpour for over fifteen minutes before a black Rolls-Royce La Rose Droptail, with tinted windows and windshield , pulled up beside her.
The passenger seat window rolled down and a man dressed in a white shirt and black trousers spoke , his voice ,sharp almost Commanding .
"Get in".
Without any word or sense of reasoning , Meris —already drenched — got into the car without asking a single question and locked the door.

Really? Asael thought to himself , staring at Meris as she entered the car. Alastor really had some nerve. So this was the kind of woman he was setting him up with now? A drunk?.
The rain had already ruined his evening , and he wasn't about to let Alastor make it even worse . He decided to call him .
"Seriously , bro?" he said immediately Alastor picked up . "This was your big surprise that would change my mind , this kind of woman ? Wtf were you thinking ? I might be tensed , but I'm not desperate ".
"Broooo ", Alastor replied , "relax. I felt you needed to go out of your way. Just go with the flow. And don't you dare opt ou—"
"Alastor—" Asael snapped loudly , buy was cut short by a half-sleepy Meris ;
"Heyyyyyy" . She yelled . "You're not the only one having a bad day , some of us have had worse okay? But please be quiet for Christ sake . We're both in a cab. Wait till you get home before you vent".
"Feisty ", Alastor chuckled and ended the call.
"What did you say?" Asael asked— but was met with no response . Strange . Most women would kill to be in her position . But here she was: drunk, and yet challenging him.
He turned to towards her and found her asleep . "And worse of all asleep ". He added inaudibly.
"Great ", he chuckled , tugging her slightly . She only stirred in her seat and sighed softly , but didn't open her eyes .
Alastor , he thought . You better be right about this.
He turned to his driver . "Don't drive to the hotel, drive home ". "I wouldn't want people seeing me bring a sleeping girl out of the car and thinking otherwise" . He thought to himself .
