Blurb

It all started when the leader of our country was brutally murdered by a group of witches. It ignited a brutal war that has lasted for the past 20 years between the witches and regular people. Joseph, a well respected and extremely rich witch hunter was hired to hunt after Rosalyn. Little did he know that this task would take a lot longer than he thought. And killing Rosalyn might just be something he can never do.

Rosalyn
All she remembers is running. Running as fast and as hard as she could. She tried looking back to see if there was still that person following them. "Rosalyn don't look back. It's gonna make you slow down Just keep running dear." That voice. Rosalyn looked ahead and saw her mother. There was blood all over her arm from an arrow being shot at her. They were surrounded by tall dark trees. The moonlight peeking through the foliage illuminating the forest floor. Suddenly she heard a shriek. "Mom!!" running to her mother's side. She got hit with another arrow while they were running. There was so much blood coming out of her calf. "Mom, mom get up please he's gonna get us. "      Rosalyn pleaded with all her might, begging for her mom to get up before they were caught. She moved her arm to block the path and provide them with some protection from the hunter. "Rosie listens to me, you need to keep going without me. That man is after me, not you. He should leave you alone once he's done with me. I need you to be strong and run. Run into the city and hide your mark." She explained tears falling and she caressed Rosalyn's cheek. Then a sound of an ax hacking at the branches filled the small space.      "No, No I can try to fight him. I'm stronger now. I can control my powers. Please I can't just leave you with that person after you like this." Ros sobbed. There was no way in hell that she could leave her own mother like this. The hacking grew louder, along with the grunting of the hunter after them. She felt her mother's touch, "Oh, my sweet girl, I need you to understand that this is better for you. I can't risk you getting attacked too." Her mother then took both their right hands and pressed them together. "Hide your mark, stay safe in the city, run away and by no means let anyone know what you are." They separated their hands and Rosalyn ran away. She ran to a nearby tree and climbed it as best as she could. From there she could see the man that was after them.  He managed to break through the wall of branches her mother made and drew his sword. With one quick stab, Rosalyn saw the light from her mother's mark disappear. He did it. He finished the job. Rosalyn wanted to scream, her sobs taking over her whole body. The man had done it. First, he took her father and now her mother too. Then she fell...  That is all she could remember when she was suddenly woken up in a cold sweat. "Heh another nightmare about mom." she breathed out as she grabbed her towel. Stretching as she went to the shower and began her daily routine. She quickly showered and brushed her hair out. She began humming a lullaby that her mother had taught her while she took her light brown hair into a long braid. For as long as she could remember she had hummed it whenever she woke up from a memory of her mother. Rosalyn got dressed in some black pants and a light tank top and sighed as she took her hand wraps and covered her distinct purple mark on her palm. Her mother had told her that it was something that every witch had. It was the source of their magic. Each mark different to represent what type of magic that the individual would have.  For Rosalyn, it was the power to control the elements, as for her mother she had the power to control nature. Unfortunately, she had to hide it to keep from being hunted down. The war had changed her life ever since her mother was hunted down and killed by a hunter when she was 10. Ever since then she hid and kept a low profile to keep others from knowing she was a witch. That is except for her best friend Mariah. Who had taken her in from the streets a few months after the incident. She grabbed her bags and left her small home and went to the market. Usually, Rosalyn wouldn't go but she was out of almost everything.  As Rosalyn began selecting food and first aid supplies at the store she noticed someone was following her. She decided to ignore it until an older man stood beside her. He was tall compared to her. He had an old musty smell and seemed to be middle-aged with graying hair and a large pot-belly. "Can I help you sir?" she asked and she put the groceries in her basket. "Just wondering why a pretty little one like you would be here alone" he replied smugly. "Just buying some stuff same as you," Rosalyn said and she grabbed her stuff and moved to checkout.  He continues following her. How she wished she could use her magic to get him away from her, but she couldn't without risking her cover being blown. He followed her to the line and tried talking to her again. "Stop following me if you know what's good for you," she threatened. Rosalyn knew she couldn't use her magic but she could fight.  She had to learn to protect herself. After all, if anyone would go after her as they did to her family. "Don't think that just cause you're so pretty you can threaten me"  the man growled as he grabbed her right wrist.  Rosalyn quickly used all her strength to pull her hand from his grip and punched him in the nose. He hunched over grabbing his nose groaning. The man was pinching his nose as he began bleeding. Rosalyn quickly left to another checkout line and noticed that her hand wrap had unwrapped slightly. "Oh s**t. Did he see my mark?" she said quietly as she wrapped it again. She tried her best to make the rest of her shopping trip as quick as possible. Little did she know that she had just made a huge mistake. The middle-aged man stormed out of the store after he had gotten rid of his bloody nose. Steam was practically coming out of his ears as he walked to the nearest and best witch hunter he knew... Joseph. He stormed into the building and yelled "Where the hell is Joseph?!" I got a job for you!"  with a face as red as a tomato.
