Averine’s POV “Ave, you free on Tuesday night?” Lucia asked me during our 15 minutes break time before my next Scientific Writing class.  “Uh, no, I think, I have so many chapters to revise. Why, Lu?” I stopped paying attention to my little notebook and look at her.  “Well you see, Luca and his bandmates are going to perform at Mintz,” “Luca? Whoa, your twin’s ready to perform?” I asked surprised, not that I mean anything bad. “Yea yea! I heard he even got himself a schedule at Mintz,” “That’s great, Lucia! Maybe I could squeeze myself in for a few hours before drowning myself back with revisions again.” “Cool, I’ll ask for more details to him later when I go home this weekend. Oh, you know how he’s so hard to reach through phone,” Lucia giggles while rolling back her eyes. “Why don’t you telepath him?” I asked jokingly. “Psh, we are twin no doubt, but we just never really connect.” “For sure. Hey, may-,” my words got cut out as I heard a crowd of girls screaming and drooling over no other than Kai Colton. My face filled with disgust.  Who is Kai Colton? Oh, please don’t ask. If there’s anyone I hate since I was born, it should be him. But oddly, most of my campus’ girls are all crazy enough to throw themselves to him. Making him feel like he’s all good and popular, with his looks and ideal built, thinking he’s smart and gorgeous, just because of he- “AVERINE!” Huh? I gave Lucia a confused look. “Yea, why?” Lucia looks like she’s about to throw me a chair. “WHY? Girl, you were daydreaming-ish while looking at Kai’s fangirls, or maybe you were even staring at Kai! You okay?” Lucia continues her babble.  “Stop making jokes, I was never looking at Kai, okay? And need I remind you that I hate him as much as I possibly can,” I denied, how can this even be possible? “Really?” Lucia squints her eyes, “You don’t even realize that you were starring. Kai even glanced at you and you didn’t even flinch!” “Shoot, please tell me you’re joking,” did I just embarrassed myself? “What do I even get when I joke with you? You rarely laugh,” that’s true, I thought. “Ugggghh this is so embarrassing!” I gathered all my books and take the last bite of my sour apple, soon heading straight to my class. I noticed Lucia hastily follows me from behind. “Why are you following me?” I suddenly stopped my pace and turn to see her. “Eh? Oh my gosh, what day is it again?” “It’s Friday?” I answer here with a flat face. Lucia clumsily checks her class schedule with a few of her paper notes falling.  “Oops, my next class begins in an hour, it’s Script Writing class. So, I’ll leave first then?” She said with an awkward smile on her face, oh Lucia.  “Yeah sure, I’ll wait for you at Waffles,” “Gotcha. See ya, Ave!” I waved goodbye.   One and a half- hours later, my class ends. I check the time and it’s just 2 pm. I have nothing to do until Lulu’s class ends and that is probably at 3 pm if she doesn’t stop to chat with her classmates. Did I mention her male classmates that I meant? Well, I can’t blame them for drooling and chasing over Lulu. She is the kindest soul I have met. I wasn’t born in a warm family anyway so don’t judge me, okay? If you think having a pretty soul is not enough, then you should meet her. She’s not tall, I would rather say that she’s petite. With her shoulder-length light brown hair that ends with little curls. I love her hair, I have always thought that they’re gorgeous and gives out a sweet appearance. And the freckles that spread across her face. As I said, she is how you’d imagine a sweet, innocent girl would be like. She gives out a little sister vibe too, no wonder Luca tries to get her away from those hungry eyes prying on her.  While I, on the other end, is completely different from here. If she shoots out a bright personality, I might be a little hard to approach. It’s normal for people to stare and avoid me, but that’s fine, I don’t mind. I have very dark hair, I would say it’s black, but somehow it looks like it’s darker than black if that’s even possible. It’s dead straight and long to almost my waistline. While Lucia doesn’t have bangs, I have bangs covering my forehead. I don’t wear pretty dresses, I don’t do much makeup. I don’t have time for that. My two older sisters are all known for their beauty, but not me, I am like the ugly duckling of my family. No one cares, not my family, not anyone. Even with so many differences, I still wish I can attend the same classes as Lucia. But, I guess we can’t, I major in music while she majors in the filmography. With a creative mind and great imaginations, I’m sure Lulu’s script can surpass any of her classmates’, my skills are just okay.   I head to Auntie Daisy’s Waffles, which is my and Lulu’s favorite waffle stop to wait for her. I was still choosing what I’ll have when suddenly my phone beeps, asking for a battery. I quickly decide on a banana waffle with caramel sauce along with a cup of bitter tea. I scanned the room looking for a 2-person seat sticking close to a charging socket. Ah, I see one at the back. Without thinking any further, I make my way and drop my bag at the other seat to claim taken. I sit comfily and plug in my charger, my phone lights up as if it is happy being fed. I put my phone down and grab my notes to highlight important parts. As I try to reach my bag, I realized something. Something I wish I had known before I had taken this seat. Kai Colton, the only one Kai Colton is sitting across me with arms crossed and eyes fixed on mine.
