The painful gaze

The sound of ambulance in the background, and the mumbling voice of the doctors, but all I could hear was the sound of my own heartbeat. The heartbeat that was filled with anxiety,agony,and mostly anger. Anger for not seeing the pain you held inside. If only I could have seen the depths of your misery. Maybe, just maybe I could have saved y- The first rays of sunlight lit up my room. I woke up at the sound of my alarm. I got up and did my everyday routine, I went down and ate breakfast, took a shower, and change just like any normal people do. I was preparing to head out when I heard the sound of my mom calling me to not forget my lunch again. Just when I was about to leave, I saw a pretty girl standing beside the gate. You started to approach her. " Morning Althea, your early today, I was just about to pick you up." " Morning Elijah, I got up early, so I decided to come to your house instead." We started walking to school while holding hands and I unconsciously stared at her. Althea looked so beautiful and strong, but I knew deep down she is someone who is hurting. The first time I met her was at a group gathering for the graduates, she was always smiling but I noticed she was just putting an act, like it was something she needed to do to protect herself, and I thought to myself that she must be a very fragile and exquisite girl. I started to be interested in her, always looking her way, but then I thought to myself that I wanted to be protect her, so I approached her and would often ask her to hang out with me after school, but she would always decline. Then one day I learned that we were neighbors. I should really go out more often. I would occasionally wait for her outside her house and walk with her to school and after school. Then one day my friends ask me if I like Althea, it suddenly hit me that I've been in love with her. I asked her out but she declined me, but I didn't give up and kept pursuing her until she said yes 5 months ago. Just when I was lost in thought I heard a voice calling out to me. " Elijah if you keep staring at me I'm gonna melt!" she teased I looked away and started to blush.
