Chapter 16

1684 Words
Anna     “William!” I scream as I wake from my dreamless sleep. The images in my head haunting me. What are they doing to William? Is he hurt? What if they kill him? I do not know what I would do without him. I should have never left him, maybe then I could have done something. Anything. I pull at hair, not being able to handle what I have done. Tears well up in my eyes. Why am I always crying, I ask myself? How is it that I had thought myself a strong woman and then I meet William and I let myself become this weak. I can’t let that happen anymore. I need to get stronger. Somehow, I will.     “Anna, everything is alright. We have located William.” My eyes snap to Abigail, who I hadn’t noticed before. She was sitting next to me in an enclosed carriage. “They took him to some warehouses a couple towns over. Its close to the ocean. We will be there soon and we will kill the son of a bitches that took him. I promise you Anna.” Her eyes bore into my own with their intensity. And I know we will get my William back.     I look around. The carriage was a deep blue, with polished wooden trimming lining the whole interior of the carriage. There was a door to the right of me, with windows on both sides, allowing me to see the outside. We were riding in the countryside, crops growing on either side of us, as far as the eye can see.     I snap back to Abigail. “Tell me everything you know.”     Without further prompting, “We know that they have been looking of him for a very long time. You see Anna, William is the last of his kind.”     “I am aware of that,” I interject.     “No, you don’t understand. I mean that there is literally no one left, every other werewolf in the world is gone. They have all been exterminated down to the last pup. All that was left was William.” My heart skips a beat. I knew that William’s whole family and friends had been killed, but I didn’t realize there was no one left. Just William. I could only imagine how he felt. “And they have been looking for him for years. The Hunters have always tried to annihilate all were’s but werewolves only have their strength to protect them. Werecat’s have always avoided Hunters by using our sixth sense. We all have some special traits like telepathy, empath, mentalist, and some of us can even look into the future. You see we all came about from the original werecat, just like werewolves have one original werecat. They are the ones who passed down these traits. They were the most powerful of our kind. With these traits, we have been able to survive.”     “How does that relate to how you found William?” I interrupt, I didn’t see how we will get William back with their history.     “The reason I say this is because I have royalty in my blood. Royals usually have two or three of the werecat’s traits. Some of us are lucky and get all of the traits, though not as strong as the original. I have the power of a mentalist and empath. As soon as you told me the Hunters had captured William I sent out my feelers to find him. I was looking for his consciousness. It took me a little while but I was able to use his presence in the house to locate him.” She grows hesitant, almost like she didn’t want to tell me something. A cold washes over me. What wasn’t she telling me?     “What aren’t you telling me?” When she still remains hesitant, I raise my eyebrows, as if to tell her to continue.     Abigail sighs. “When I found William, all I could feel in his head was this pain. Nothing else. It encompassed everything. There was nothing else but pain.” A sob escapes me. My God what have I done? I did this. Because of me, he was suffering. Abigail places her hand on top of mine and gives it a squeeze. Instantly I could feel my overwhelming feelings wash away. “The reason I was able to locate William was because he was able to escape and he was able to send images of his location to me. He could see seagulls flying outside, in the sky and they were in a warehouse. It was full of machinery. My informants were able to locate the warehouses with that. We don’t know how many Hunters were there when they got captured again. But we are 50 strong and we have the element of surprise.” There was just one thing that was confusing me.     “What do you mean by ‘they were captured’?”     Abigail’s brows furrow. “It appears that James, William twin brother, isn’t dead. The Hunters had him.”     “After all this time?” I could just imagine what he has been through. What they have done to him. What my father has done to him, I realized. “My father.” I whisper.     “Hmm, what was that?”     “My father, he’s alive and he was with the Hunters.”     “What? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Abigail grows furious. “Your father is a f*****g Hunter and you never told me?”     “I didn’t know” I say. “I was a little girl when he died, or when he faked his death. I am so sorry for not telling you sooner I had forgotten.”     Abigail stays quiet for a little bit. Contemplating everything. “Well it doesn’t matter; he is a Hunter and we will kill him.”     I hadn’t seen my father as the bad guy, until now. Who has he killed? How many has he killed? I don’t know and I don’t want to find out. No matter what happens, that man I saw was not my father. And whatever happens to him, he deserves what’s coming to him, I say to myself with a heavy heart.     The carriage comes to a stop in a wooded area. A little ways ahead I could see a couple buildings that looked like the warehouses. Somehow, we had gotten here in no time. I just hope we weren’t to late.                                                                                             William     Someone punching into flesh. Coughing. Moaning. Another punch. Sputtering. Another moan. I could feel my hands strung up again as last time. But I cold feel the silver was almost all gone now.     I crack open my eyes. My bad eye had healed enough for me to see. There were 4 of them. They had their backs to me. I could see a set of hands over their tops of their heads. James!      They were hurting my brother. Rage flows through my veins. They are going to take him away from me. The restraints start to give way as I strain against them. One of the hunters pulls back a fist, right as the silver-soaked ropes give way. Never again will they take him from me.     I got to the Hunter before he had a chance to let loose the punch. I grab his head and twist it all the way around. The look of shock frozen on his face; he never had a chance to scream. The smell of his bowels being released hits my nose instantly. Before the others have a chance to react, I grab one of them and rip his arm out of its socket. Blood rains down on me as his heart pumps it out of his body. He falls to his knees, his screams raking his body. By now, the others have come to their senses and had grabbed some of the torture tools they had brought in for us. But it wouldn’t save them. Nothing would because they had moved away from James and I could see the damage they had done to his body. They had cracked open his ribs and his insides were hanging out. I could see his heart beating through his exposed ribs. His head was hanging forward.     My bones split out from underneath my skin. I screamed and hurled myself at the last two. One was taken aback, leaving the other one exposed. I pushed my fingers into his eyes. Liquid pooled out of his eye sockets. His screams bathed all over me. Fueling my anger. I laughed at his pain. He urinates himself as I reach into his mouth and pull out his tongue. His jaw hangs open. A gaping hole where his tongue used to be. I turn over to the last one. His eyes are as wide as they could possibly be. A grin forms on my face. I could taste the blood of the other Hunter. I walk towards him; his legs shake more and more the closer I get. When I finally make it to him. He is begging for his life. But his please fall on deaf ears. I thrust my fists into his chest. I grab the ends of his ribs and rip them open. The cracking of his ribs echoes throughout the room. His body falls to the ground.     I turn to James. The screams of the fallen men slowly die down. Just when I reach James the door to the cell begins to open. No matter what, no one will touch James. I will kill whoever hurts him.     The door opens, and on the other side stands a blood spattered, out of breath Anna.     “Anna,” I whisper.
