Chapter 10

William     It was fascinating to see Anna interacting with Abigail. The fact that Anna was able to get Abigail to tell her about her family. She never even told me she had a daughter, let alone her name was Emily. I had known she had a child but never whether the child was a boy or girl. I wonder if she had the same blonde curls her mother has, or the big, crystal blue eyes. Did her eyes crinkle when she smiled just like her mother? Waves of sadness pass over me.     “William why do you look so forlorn? Is something troubling you?” Anna asks in a worried tone. Anna and Abigail both sit facing me. They must have tried to include me in their conversation but noticed I was someplace else.       “No, no not at all. What were you saying, my darling?” I ask shaking the ghosts of the past from my mind.     “I was saying that we should go to the market tomorrow, or a stroll through the park perhaps?” Anna asked with a shy smile.     “Of course, my dear. I would love to.” I answer.     Abigail turns to Anna, with a smile. “I told you he would say yes. He would do anything for you. Now would you like to dine with us tonight?”     “Alas I cannot. I’m quite sure my aunt and uncle are back from visiting their friends. I’m sure they are wondering where I am. William, if I could have a carriage take me home.”     “I will take you home, my darling.” I say as I get up to call for a carriage.     “No, its all right. Do not trouble yourself. Please I will be waiting tomorrow morn and we can talk more then.” She wants to be alone stupid, Roi informs me. What did you expect? She obviously feels something for you but there is so much that has happened.     “Yes of course, my darling.”                                                                                                ~     Anna is gone in no time. Once her presence leaves my home, I feel a surge of loneliness set in. I pull at my collar, I grow restless. I have to find her. What if something happens to her. I can’t lose her. I get up from my seat and walk purposefully towards the door. Up to till this point Abigail had been conversing with me all the while observing me. Once she saw where I was headed, she rose to her feet and placed her hand on my arm as I was passing by.     “Now William, I know how you are feeling. But you need to get a hold of yourself. I know you feel as if you can’t catch your breathe once she left. Trust me I know. I have been there, but you must give her time. She needs to sort things on her own. She has not mated with you, which I apologize for, she does not have the same feelings as you do. She is a human. You must give her time to understand once she is a werewolf it will be quite different. She will have to leave home and not see her family, maybe for the rest of her life.” I look away in guilt. “You didn’t tell her?” Abigail screeches in outrage.     “Well I was a bit occupied because Anna had just discovered I was a werewolf. And I was trying to convince her not to hate me. How was I to tell her that the only way to complete the mating ritual and be able to bare our children is to turn.” I sigh with frustration. “I just felt like there was enough information that I threw on her. I didn’t want to lose her after such a short time. She doesn’t even know the real me.” “William, you know I love you like my own son, but that is a terrible way to start your relationship. You need to tell her, if she becomes pregnant while human, she will die.”                                                                                             Anna     The feel of his lips were burned in my mind. His hands roaming my body. The sweet nothings he whispered in my ear. But I needed time to be away from him, I needed to clear my head before I allowed him anymore privileges. I’ve known him only two days and look at what I have allowed him. When the carriage had pulled away, I had felt something, I felt as if I was leaving something behind.     I was lost in thought looking out the carriage window when something, better yet someone, caught my eye. I immediately hit the roof of the carriage to alert the driver to stop. We were in the middle of town, around the bustle. The carriage pulled to the side of the road and came to a complete stop. I opened the carriage door in a crazed fashion. Looking around frantically. It couldn’t be. People around me are looking at me as if I was crazy. I try to regain my composure. I look around one last time, but I know it was hopeless. It isn’t true. It can’t be. He was murdered. I am just imagining him. And that is what I keep repeating to myself all the way back home.
