"Alright class, who here can tell me when Wisperra Island was discovered?" Miss Holloway said, her gaze turned towards the class. "Amélie, if you would be so kind." she said. I looked up, taking a moment I soon stood from my desk, my right hand placed on the desk.
"Wisperra Island was founded in E.C. 392 by explorer Gerald Le'Flor, he was originally exploring the western side of the Amorikan Kingdom where he stumbled upon Wisperra Island." I explained. I could see my teacher smile at the answer I had given her.
"That is correct, and what was he originally searching for on the western side of the kingdom?"
"Originally he was in search of gold, rumor had it that a plentiful amount of gold was hidden on the western side of the world. He spent most of his life searching for the rumored treasure, never finding it he died at the age of 52."
Miss Holloway clapped her hands, she was happy at least one of her students understood Wisperra's history. The bell rang as I was about to take my seat. My classmates quickly rose from their seats, eager to leave Miss Holloway's class. "A word if you would Amélie." she asked as I was gathering up my things. As the students left one by one, I waited at my desk, what could it be that Miss Holloway wanted I wondered.
"I'm happy that you're understanding my lessons Miss Silverlake." she said. It was weird for her to use my last name. "Oh you know, I find the history of our lovely island so fascinating." I said as I scratched my head and chuckled slightly. "Indeed, I always like to reward my students when they show promise." she said, reaching into her desk drawer she pulled out a fancy looking pen.
"What's this for?" I asked, curious as to why she was giving me this. She took a few steps towards me and handed me the pen she had just pulled from her desk.
"This is a very special pen, I only give these out to my best students." she said. I felt honored that she considered me one of her best students.
"Thank you Miss Holloway, that means a lot." I said. She clapped her hands together, I could tell just how happy she was. "Thank you for your time Amélie, now run along before you're late for your next class." she motioned for me to exit her class in hopes that I would not run late. Next class was one of my favorites, I had magic lessons with Mr. Showalter, it was one of the few classes that I shared with Jackie Lynn. I could see her peek inside Miss Holloways class, eager for me to exit the hallway with her.
"There you are, what took you so long?" Jackie said, her hand firmly placed on her hip. "Oh, Miss Holloway wanted to speak with me." I replied. I could hear her snicker at me. "Teacher's pet." she said playfully. I huffed before punching her in the arm. "I am not!" I said loudly. The two of us got a good laugh, we were always doing stuff like that with each other.
"So you ready to learn about magic today?" Jackie asked, the two of us began to slowly walk down the hallway. "Is it really learning anything when you already know most of the spells?" I replied.
Even though Magics Class was one of my favorites, the subjects they taught in there were quite novice, being the daughter of a spellcaster made learning magic very easy for me. I could remember the first time Mama Nachi taught me how to cast a fire spell, I burnt the ends of her hair by accident. She was shocked, yet so proud of me.
"Yeah you make a valid point, even still though. I'm excited, I think we're learning about water magic today." Jackie said excitedly. Jackie never really showed any promise in using the magical arts, she however did enjoy learning about the magics either way, she often reminded me of my Great Grandmother, Celeith. "So I ran into Misty on my way here." she said. "Oh yea?" I quickly responded. "Yeah, she said the two of you are going to the park together... Does my little Ami have herself a date?" she said, teasing me. My face turned red as I became flustered.
"It's not like that, she just wanted some company." I said
"Hahaha, I'm just messing with you girl, Misty doesn't strike me as that kind of girl." she responded with a hefty laugh.
Misty was a sweetheart to be honest, she is one of the most kindest girls you would ever meet in this school. If there was something you needed she wouldn't hesitate to give it to you, that however was her downfall as some people have taken advantage of her. Even still it was nice to have a friendly acquaintance like Misty.
"Though, you still have a crush on her don't you Amélie?"
I couldn't believe what Jackie just said, I covered my face with my hands, I was so embarrassed.
"Hah, I knew it... maybe this is your chance to ask her out?" she said, still playfully teasing me much to my embarrassment.
"Dang it Jackie, why do you have to pick on me like that?" I said, slightly elbowing her once again in her arm. It was true, even though I've known Misty since we were children, I've always harbored feelings for her, but I've always been too embarrassed to say anything, if she turned me down I'm sure I would be devastated.
"Okay that's enough of that Jackie Lynn, quit picking on me." I replied in kind. I took a few moments to regain my composure, feeling flustered soon went away and it was like I could finally breath again.
"You know I just love messing with you." Jackie said. Even though it embarrassed me, it made me happy knowing that Jackie was on my side rooting for me in the love department, even if I didn't really think too much of the matter. Mr. Showalter's class was just right around the corner, I could see many of our classmates entering the class while Mr. Showalter stood outside the door.
"Good morning Amélie, Jackie Lynn." he said as we approached his classroom. "Good morning Mr. Showalter." we both said in tandem.
"I hope we won't have any more outbursts in class Miss Mikuu." he said, a hint of disappointment in his voice. Yesterday there was an issue where Jackie burst out loud cause she didn't understand the lesson, she ended up having to stand out in the hallway the entire class.
"Yes sir, it won't happen again." Jackie said as she hung her head. "Good, how are you today Miss Silverlake?" he asked me kindly. I just waved my hand side to side. "Oh you know, eager to learn new things, I'm excited for todays lesson." I said happily.
I could see a smirk come across his face. "Good to hear, now go on to your seats before the bell rings."
I could hear Jackie grumble under her breath as the two of us entered the classroom. Soon the bell rang and our third class for the day would begin.
