Reflections Of A Dream To Find Her Way

"Amélie sweetie, can you come here for a moment?" my mother yelled out to me. The sound of water stopped as I draped a towel over my head. Today was the start of a fresh new day for me. My name is Amélie Silverlake. I'm currently fifteen years old. Growing up, I've been your typical girl, always listening to my mothers, never trying new things, but today was different. I dried my hair as I glanced in the mirror. It was fogged from the steam of the bathroom. Wiping the mirror with my hand revealing my reflection, a blonde-haired girl looked back at me. I smiled happily, today was the start of a fresh new day. "Amélie, where are you?" she shouted once again. "I'm coming mom." I replied in turn. Today was also the start of my freshman year at Mystwhirl Academy. My mother's enrolled me when I was only eight years old, and now I'm starting the teenage chapters of my life. "There you are, where have you.." my mom began to say before she noticed me. "Been... Amélie, what did you do to your hair?" she asked, shocked to see my new style. "Do you like it?" I asked, happy that I had taken a step out of my comfort zone and made a change. I could tell just by the look on her face how disappointed she was with me at this current moment. "Roux is going to kill me." Mom said as she took a strand of my hair into her hand. "What did you do to that beautiful hair of yours?" she asked once again. Mom, or Mama Penny as I usually call her, was the strictest of my mothers. Nachiroux, or Mama Nachi as I called her, was off on another mission with Mama Monica. Their job is to take on tasks for the Hunter's Guild and protect those that live on Wisperra Island. Mama Nachi was the most laid back of my parents, however, once she saw what I'd done with my hair, I'm sure she would blow a gasket just like Mama Penny was about to. "I wanted a change mom, do you like it?" I asked, hoping to get some kind of other response from her. She placed her hand on her hip and just sighed with disappointment. Taking a step back, she sat on her chair to take a breather. "It's different, I'll give you that," she said, taking a moment to think. "Where did you get the hair dye anyways?" I ran my fingers through my hair. I was so excited about the change I kinda toned out Mom for a moment. "Amélie!" She raised her voice. That caught my attention. "Huh? Oh sorry, Jackie Lynn got it for me. We both decided to dye our hair together and start fresh for the new year." "So this is Jackie Lynn's fault. "I'll need to have a word with her parents when this is all done and over with," Mom said, the sound of frustration in her voice was scary. Three knocks came to our door. "That must be Jackie Lynn, we're walking to school today." I said happily. I made a dart for the door before my mom called me once again. "Do you want me to drive you two? It's no problem, it's on the way to work after all." she said. I waved my hand side to side, it was something I did when I wanted to shrug her off. "Appreciate it mom, but Jackie Lynn and I enjoy our long walks to the Academy." Taking a moment, I fixed my skirt and straightened my jacket before opening the door. Standing there was Jackie Lynn, she twirled her short pink hair playfully as she looked in excitment to seeing my new hair color. "So you actually went through with it." Jackie said, happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone. "Hey I told you I was gonna, though between you and me, mom's not too happy about the entire situation." I replied. Jackie glanced behind me to see my mom slowly approaching us. "Young lady, does your mother know what you've done?" she asked. Jackie chuckled, her attitude changed very quickly. "Mom doesn't know I let Ami borrow some of my hair dye, please don't tell her." she hoped and prayed to my mom. Mama Penny placed her hand on her temple and rubbed as she shook her head. "Just.. just go.. I'll deal with you later little lady." she said. "I love you mom..." I said. "I love you too Amélie, now get before you're late."
