Chapter Five

Third class would come and go, soon it was our lunch time. Jackie Lynn, Rudy and I all sat at a small picnic table in the yard, it was our usual lunch table. The sun shone down brightly on us, we were still having Summer weather so it was mildly hot, but mostly humid. "Why don't we ever go inside the main building and sit?" I asked, fanning myself off. I opened the small box I had brought with me and spread out my lunch on the table. "You always bring the best stuff." Jackie Lynn said before taking a bite out of her sandwich. With the chopsticks that I carried with me, I picked up a small bit of rice and nibbled down on it. "Hey you guys, would it be okay if I sat with you today?" A familiar voice spoke out. Standing next to me was Misty, she swayed side to side as she held a tiny lunch box. "Sure I don't mind, how about you guys?" I asked. Jackie and Rudy looked at each other, both of them shrugged before they would resume to eat their lunches. "Fine with me." Jackie said softly. "The more the merrier I always say." Rudy spoke. I scooched over, Misty sat beside me and placed her lunch box on the table. "What did you bring today Misty?" I asked, curious to what treats her lunch box held. She opened the box, revealing a small slice of cake and a bottle of tea. "It's my moms special chocolate cake, do you want some?" Misty asked, just looking at it I could feel my mouth watering up. I gulped before nodding my head. "I would love some." I muttered. Misty giggled, breaking off a piece of her cake she picked it up with the fork she had brought with her. "Say ah." she said playfully. My eyes sparkled as I took a bite of cake, it was the most delicious thing I had ever had in my entire life. "Oh my god, that is soo good." I said full of delight. "I'm glad you like it, I was hoping I could share my lunch with you today Amélie" she said. What could she mean by that I wondered. "So what class do you have after lunch Misty?" Jackie asked. Misty wiped her mouth with a small napkin. "I have Magic Class with Mr. Showalter." she said. "Oh neat, that was our last class. You're going to love todays lesson." I said happily. Magic Class was my favorite class out of every one I would attend during the day, I could tell by the look on Misty's face that she felt the same way. "So you're coming over still for dinner tonight right Jackie? Mom's so excited to see you." Rudy said to Jackie Lynn. "You two got a date?" I asked, curious to what their plans were for the evening. "Kinda, but not really, Rudy and I have been dating for awhile now and his mom has been so eager to meet me." Jackie said, she nuzzled up closer to Rudy who was taking a sip of his drink. "She's going to love you." Rudy said. I could see Jackie blush slightly. "I hope so, it be a shame if my boyfriends mom hated his girlfriend." I chuckled, it was cute to see how much they cared for each other. Before I could say anything a group of boys approached us. "Hey Misty, what are you doing with these losers?" The black-haired boy said, what an ass I thought. Misty just ignored him and continued to eat her cake. "Playing hard to get huh.. Come on baby, what do you say you and me go out to the training yard for a little one on one." he said rudely, I could hear his friends snicker the entire time. "What did you just say?" I said angrily, slamming my hand down on the table. He glanced over towards me. "You're a real jerk you know that Damian." "What did you just say to the boss?" A red-haired boy said in return. Damian just raised his hand, the other boys backed off as he circled behind Misty and me. "You know, you've cut quite the figure Amélie, what do you say you join Misty and me for some fun activities." His cockiness angered me, and I wasn't the only one. Jackie and Rudy stood to their feet, Rudy looked like he was ready to fight. "Apologize now." Rudy said angrily. Damian glanced over and just scoffed off Rudy. "How's about you shut up, loser." "What did you just call me?" Rudy said, the other boys slowly approached and puffed out their chests, clearly they were ready to fight. "And you Jackie Lynn... oh Jackie Jackie Jackie, how's about you ditch this loser and come be with a real winner." Damian continued on with his rude antics. Out of everything that was being said, Misty seemed disinterested in the entire situation. "Are you done?" Misty said as she took the final bite of her cake. Damian patted his chest with one hand. "I'm never done baby, so what do you three say? Care to come join me for some (training)" I wanted to slap this boy, he was rude and down right perverted. Misty may of been a very gullible girl but even she knew when to disregard a perverts advances. "No thanks, I'm with Amélie." Damians eyebrow c****d and a huge grin came across his face. "So you're like that.. I can work with that, hehe." he said disgustingly. I had just bout had enough of his remarks. I took a single step and with one blow I struck Damian across the face with my palm. "You disgusting prick, you should never talk to a woman like that." I said angrily. Misty, Jackie and Rudy all looked surprised at my sudden outburst towards Damian. The other boys started taking steps before being halted by Damian. "I like em fiesty." he said as he grabbed a hold of my arm. "Let me go." I said angrily. He just tightened his grip as he pulled me in closer to him, Misty grabbed a hold of his arm and began to tug as hard as she could. "Leave Amélie alone Damian." Misty argued, Rudy tried to fight back but the boys circled him, shielding Damian from anything Rudy may do. "Now that we're closer, whats say you and I..." he began to say as he gazed into my eyes. Try as I may I couldn't break his hold on me. He leaned closer in, I could feel his breath on my lips. It angered me, I grabbed a hold of his hand with my free hand and I stared him directly into his eyes. I don't know how or why it happened, but my eyes began to glow red as I stared deep into his eyes. Soon his eyes became lifeless and his grip on me loosened up. "Leave us alone." I said angrily, giving him a slight shove. In his dazed state he took a few steps backwards, it was as if something was controlling his body. "Alright boys, let's leave them alone." he said in a monotone voice. Before long both Damian and his friends left us, Jackie Lynn and Rudy looked shocked as my eyes returned to normal, Misty however looked excited. "Oh wow, that's so cool." Misty said happily. "How did you do that?" How did I do that indeed, I remember overhearing Mama Penny scold Mama Nachi about the same trick when I was younger. Could I of somehow unconsciously learned how to do her special trick as well? "I.. I don't know." I said, still clearly shocked by the entire ordeal. "That asshole, I hate men like him." Rudy said angrily, I could see Jackie's hand shaking from everything that had just happened. This was by far the worst lunch experience I have ever had. Soon the four of us would all sit back down and enjoy the rest of our lunch together. "I still can't believe he would do that." Jackie said, pulling out her phone she began messaging on it. "What are you doing?" Rudy asked. I could hear Jackie grumble the entire time she was focused in on her phone. "I'm putting the word out on what type of scum Damian Highwater is." Jackie was part of a wide group of students who spread the word so the other students could attend school safely. "So now that that whole thing is done with, "Misty said casually, "What book have you been reading Amélie?" It was nice that she was interested in my hobbies. "It's called Teardrop, its this novella written by Cordelia Delvaeux." Funnily enough Cordelia was a family friend, she went to school with my great grandparents and soon became a well published author. "That's neat, maybe you can read me some pages at the park?" Misty said playfully. I smiled. "Sure, that sounds like fun." I said as the bell rang.
