Chapter Ten

"So what happened?" Penny asked curious to the situation. Nachiroux sat in her chair and rubbed her temple. "It was that boy Damian." Nachiroux said. "You mean Max and Lily's boy?" Penny asked. Nachiroux nodded her head. "Yeah, the little trouble maker finally crossed a line." "What did the Guild have to say when you brought him in?" Monica said curiously. Nachiroux leaned back in her chair and let out a sigh. "Apparently this isn't his first offence, the guild has been keeping close watch on the boy. I knew he was a troubled kid but for him to go as far as to try and assault Ami." Nachiroux still couldn't believe it, she had known Damian ever since he was a little boy, for him to act the way he did was just so strange to her. "What are they going to do to him?" Penny asked. "The Guild is transporting him to Ducournau this very moment. He'll most likely be there for awhile while he awaits trial, if you ask me even that's too good for the little bastard." Monica and Penny sat on the couch and gazed at the fireplace, the flames were crackling. "What do we do about Amélie then?" Monica asked. "We can't have a repeat of tonight." "I agree hunny, but we can't just tell her to not date this girl." Penny said. The situation was tough for the three women, they wanted their daughter to stay safe but at the same time they wanted her to be able to live her life. "I know you've been so against it Penny, but I think it's about time you let me teach her to defend herself." Nachiroux brought up a good point, if Amélie could defend herself then something like this may not happen. "You know I don't want her to be like you sweetie, no offense but aren't we trying to raise her different than the way you were raised?" Penny replied. "I don't think it's a bad idea anymore Penny, Amélie is getting older, she's not that frail little girl she used to be." Monica said much to Penny's disagreement. "We got lucky tonight that we found her, but we might not be so lucky next time, teaching her to defend herself will be in her best interest." "Fine, teach her to defend herself, I've tried sheltering her from these sort of things but I can't any longer." Penny said sadly. Nachiroux sat in between Monica and Penny and wrapped her arms around the both of them. "Everything will be fine, our little Ami is growing up. Being able to take care of herself is part of that. Besides, now that she has herself a girlfriend I'm sure she'd want to do anything to keep the girl safe." Nachiroux said happily. "That's still so strange, you didn't know anything about her dating, Penny?" Monica asked. Penny shook her head. "This is news to me, I'm just as shocked as you two." The three soon turned their serious conversation into a chuckle fest, it had been awhile since Penny had seen Nachiroux and Monica. The three sat together, their hands interlocked with each other as they stared deeply into the fire before them. "I've missed you Roux." Penny said as she leaned her head on Nachiroux's shoulder. In return Nachiroux leaned her head against Penny's. "I've missed you too sweetheart." "Hey what about me?" Monica said, playing as if she was jealous. Penny giggled. "I missed you too Monica, I've been worried about the two of you ever since you left for work." Penny said. With them working for the Hunter's Guild, Nachiroux and Monica were constnatly tasked with doing dangerous missions. They now had a few weeks off of work to spend quality time with their family. Every time they would leave on their missions, Penny would sit up late at night and worry about them, hoping and praying that they would return home safely, and everytime they returned home, she felt at peace with the world knowing the loves of her life were home safe and sound.
