Chapter 13: Flirt

When we got home, I wanted Jax to strip for me the same night, but he was exhausted, and to be honest, so was I, so we made our way to our room and I climbed in and snuggled up against Romulus’ back. He stirred and turned on his back, pulling me into his arms. “Hey, love,” he whispered.
“Hey.”
He went to kiss my head, but I tilted my face up, so he got my lips instead. “Mmm,” he mumbled softly against my lips and deepened the kiss.
It was a long and good kiss, sensual and lingering, his tongue and mouth a slow and deep dance with the promise of desire and breathless pleasure…and then he let me go, knowing I was tired, and we all cuddled up, though with a kiss like that it took me a while before I fell asleep.
At some point, Elena came in saying she’d had a nightmare. Fenris held his arms out to her and whispered. “Come here baby.” She climbed into the bed and snuggled into his arms, and it wasn’t long before she was asleep while he held her.
When morning came, as usual with our lovely children, we woke up to Elena somehow on top of both Fenris and Romulus while her feet were in Jax’s face and her arm was flung over me.
Mostly, Jax was an amazing father, but other times, like now, he could act more like a brother. Groaning, he woke up when her foot was on his mouth, and then he pushed it away. “Elena, for f***k’ sake, stop doing that.”
She groggily woke up and mumbled, “what?”
“Putting your smelly feet in my face.” He pushed her off him entirely, and she rolled over Fenris and back onto the bed where she belonged.
“Don’t be mean, daddy!”
“I’m not, you’re being mean, shoving your gross feet in my face and my mouth.”
She glared at him angrily, while he stared coldly back at her. I shoved Jax hard. “Don’t be childish.”
He looked at me wide-eyed. “I’m not, she shouldn’t even still be getting into our bed, she’s too big for that.”
Elena could be really sensitive like me and his words upset her. She still struggled sleeping alone and would often join us and I knew it embarrassed her, I don’t think Jax realized this, though.
She started crying, and he sat up and tugged her onto his lap. “Ssh, I’m sorry baby girl, daddy’s sorry that was mean of me.”
“I don’t want to be a big girl and sleep alone, it’s scary,” she cried loudly, waking both Fenris and Romulus.
Jax stroked her hair and rocked her in his arms. “That’s ok baby, you don’t need to be a big girl, you’ll always be our baby, ok?”
She looked up at him with big round tear filled eyes that melted my heart and clearly melted his because he looked so guilty and pulled her head against his chest and held her tight. “I love you so much, I’m sorry, please forgive me?”
She sniffled in his arms thinking about it and then finally gave a nod. “Ok, just this once.”
“Fair enough.”
Romulus pulled her from Jax’s lap and into his, giving Jax a dirty look. “What did you do?”
Elena touched his shoulder and said, “it’s ok daddy, we made up!”
Romulus looked p.issed with Jax but finally, he looked down at Elena and smiled, “ok sweetie.”
He took her down to give her breakfast and Jax still feeling guilty, followed them.
When the door was shut, Fenris pulled me into his arms and kissed me. “Morning beautiful.”
“Morning,” I smiled. His fingers lightly tickled their way across my skin, stroking over my knee and up between my thighs, I grew wet just thinking about the pleasure they could provide me, and he grinned that boyish grin I loved. “I can smell how wet you are.”
I blushed and bit my lower lip, making him growl. “I love when you bite your lip like that.”
His fingers were mere centimeters away from where I was wet and aching when the door flung open and Lucas jumped on the bed. Fenris quickly sat up. “Hey, my little man, what are you doing?”
“I’m hungry!” He bounced on the bed excitedly.
“Join your sister then, they’re already downstairs eating breakfast.”
“Ok!” He jumped up and ran out.
Laughing, Fenris got up and said, “I guess we should join them.”
When he saw my face, he laughed, “I’ll make it up to you later babe, I promise.” He kissed my lips and whispered against them, “I’ll f***k that hot arse of yours, ok?”
“Really?” I asked suspiciously.
He grinned, “I promise, I’ll do it all night if you want me to.”
His words turned me on, and I could only swallow and nod. He leaned in to kiss my neck where he had marked me and then headed downstairs to join the others. I was left with nothing but the feel of tingling warmth and dampness from his lips on my neck, and the scent of him in the room, I inhaled it catching the familiar smell of vanilla, the fresh crisp smell of the night air and the forest, I had to leave the room before I drove my hormones crazy.
We were all eating together, and it was nice, these days I had no problems from the rest of the pack, they left me alone and some were even nice to me.
I was sitting with the kids and the men in my life when I felt that weird feeling like my wolf was separate from me, I felt her brush up inside of me and it kind of hurt, like something brushing against your ribs on the inside. I jumped up, making everyone look at me and mumbled, “I’m done, I’m going to get ready.”
I rushed off before anyone could question me. Jax was like a flipping lie detector, if I stayed around him too long he would grow suspicious and demand it out of me.
I ran to my room and got dressed, just a plain white t-shirt and leggings. I was too lost in my thoughts to make much of an effort. I tied my curly hair back from my face and put my glasses on, yep, I still couldn’t make myself wear eye contacts.
When we drove to school, we dropped the kids off, then Anita and on the way to work I noticed a woman in her car staring at Jax hungrily.
She was attractive with long blonde straight hair, sunglasses sitting on top of her head. I could see she had piercing blue eyes, reminding me of Aurora. She did look very similar and I didn’t like that, but I sat back in my seat and tried to ignore it.
I was used to my mates’ always being ogled and stared at, and they usually never noticed or chose not to respond. Today was different, Jax felt her watching him and turned to look at her. She smiled and he smiled back.
I could live with that, but when she bit her lip and brushed her hair out of the way, making sure he could see her big b.reasts straining against her low cut top, Jax allowed his eyes to travel down to her chest, and then he looked back up at her grinning and winked.
I would have punched him in the knee and almost did, but then I remembered my embarrassing behavior when I’d humped Nick, I didn’t have the right to stop him flirting after that.
She rolled her window down and gestured for him to do the same, when he did, she asked, “can I have your number?”
I don’t think she’d even noticed me and I leaned over and called out, “he’s so handsome, isn’t he?”
She looked annoyed to see me there, as if I were somehow the one intruding on them! But she smiled and said, “he really is.”
Jax knew he was in deep s.hit and tried smiling at me. I wrapped my arm around his neck and pulling him in, I kissed him long and slow, making sure she saw my tongue working with his, then I pulled back and said, “I’m glad you think my husband is so handsome, I love showing him off.”
I’d usually be too shy to do such a thing, but anger helped, as well as being safe in the car because I was still a wimp of a werewolf. She looked both embarrassed and enraged that she couldn’t have him. “Drive. Now,” I warned him.
“Yep.” He drove off and when we parked up outside work he looked at me. “I’m sorry, I don’t know why I flirted.”
“She looked like Aurora.” I said.
He cringed and said, “not really.”
“Don’t downplay it, we can’t deny Aurora was incredibly hot.”
“Rose—”
“It’s fine, I’m not mad at you. Let’s just forget it.” I went to climb out, and he pulled me back.
“I’m sorry, darling.” He kissed me on the lips, and right now, I didn’t want to kiss him. I’d never felt this way before, no matter how mad or how much we argued, I always wanted to kiss Jax.
My thoughts went to Nick and his lips on mine, and I quickly pushed those thoughts away.
I climbed out and decided I was going to ask Matilda if she knew anything about what was happening to me.
