Chapter 12: Catch the criminal!

2264 Words
We were given the job of bringing in three werehyenas, yep, they were a thing too, I was surprised to learn that it wasn’t just wolves people could turn into but any animal if they had the gene. Pfft, had I really thought us werewolves were special and the only ones? Silly me. I took my dagger with me and Jax frowned at me, “really, Rose? You’re bringing that thing again, do you even know how to use it?” “Yes, Darryl’s been teaching me.” Jax rolled his eyes and pushed his way through the double doors to outside. The werehyenas had been dealing drugs, and I didn’t mean the human kind, these were some dangerous drugs they’d concocted themselves, it was like heroin for other wereanimals which was still terrible, but they were also selling to humans and to a human it was just plain lethal, it killed them slowly and painfully too, the stuff I’d read was brutal, worse than any poison. I climbed in beside Jax in the car, and he put his hand on my leg. “You alright to do this, darling?” I looked at him, surprised at his tenderness, I was expecting him to be playful and shove me or something. I put my hand on top of his and smiled at him. “Yes, I’m good, I promise.” He gave a smile and said, “good, come here.” I leaned forward, and he pressed his lips to mine softly. I melted into the kiss and enjoyed the feel of him dancing his tongue over mine. He pulled back and whispered, “I love you so much, Rose. I thought I’d lost you for a minute.” Tears pricked my eyes and I leaned over to hug him. “I love you so much too, you could never lose me, Jax.” “You’re my girl forever, right?” He asked, sounding teary-eyed. “Always.” I squeezed him harder, and then he pulled back and blinked away any tears that might fall. “f***k, alright enough of this s.hit, let’s do our job,” he grinned. I rolled my eyes and laughed, “you are such a man.” He did shove me then and muttered, “werewolf.” We got to the shipping containment where they’d been hiding their drugs and doing pick-ups and we waited. It was broad daylight but like their animal, werehyenas were sly, some of them worked in these shipping container places which made it easier to pick up and sneak out the parcels and packages, they also knew that In daytime the guards and security were more relaxed knowing most criminals preferred to do their dirty work at night. Little did they know, one of our colleagues had been watching them and caught on to their routines and timetable. We parked away from the place, and we had backup with us just in case. For now, it was just me and Jax who shifted to our wolf forms and then snuck our way on to the site. We had to be really careful shifting so close to the public, but we managed, once inside we were safe enough as it was run by other wereanimals. We’d been sprayed with this weird stuff that made us odorless so that the wereanimals wouldn’t catch our scent. We shifted back to human form behind an empty, unattended container that was mostly hidden in the corner out of the way. It wasn’t easy shifting back and forth, we had to undress, and then I felt stupid carrying a bag in my mouth like some dog with our clothes in because Jax refused to do it. Once in human form and redressed, I was about to sneak towards the left but Jax grabbed my hand and shook his head. He slowly pulled me by the hand with him. We came up behind two guards who were busy talking to one another. Jax looked at me and signalled for me to take down the one on the left, and, using his fingers, he counted down to three. We both silently sprung forward. I copied Jax wrapping my arm around the guard’s neck, there was a certain way of doing it that had taken both Jax and Romulus months and months to teach me before I eventually learned how to do it. It made them pass out within seconds. Gently we lay them on the ground and out of sight and moved on. “This is like some cool video game, isn’t it?” I whispered excitedly. Jax rolled his eyes. “You’ve been gaming too much with Fenris.” “But it is! Look, a shipping containment area, lots of guards, us sneaking around and taking them down.” Jax shook his head and laughed softly at me. “You’re so f.ucking cute, come on.” We took down a couple more guards, and then we snuck into a small building. We took out the surveillance guard. We knew the packages and dealings were happening here right about now. We climbed some stairs and sneaking along we looked down and saw them. They were sat on some torn leather sofa, drinking and laughing and talking as if they didn’t have a care in the world. There were more than we thought, there were about five down there. “You should stay here,” Jax whispered. “What? No way! I’m coming, you can’t take them all.” “Darling, I took down a whole pack for you when they tried taking you from me.” “Pfft, one, I wasn’t yours then, you didn’t want me, and two, you had the help of Fenris and May.” “I always wanted you darling, I was just delaying the inevitable, and they helped subdue them, I did the actual killing.” I looked at him then, really looked at him, he had never told me that before. “What? You always wanted me?” “Of course, dipshit.” “Seriously Jax?” I asked. Looking more softly at me, he nodded. “When? When did you know you wanted me and not just for s**x?” I think I’d maybe seen Jax blush sort of, once, but right now, he actually full on blushed and it was so damn cute. Shrugging, he mumbled, “at the warehouse, when you admitted you were more worried about me getting caught than what I was actually doing. To be honest, I think I loved you the moment we started to talk In the asylum, but I’m a f.ucking i.diot, so I wouldn’t admit it to myself, let alone to you.” “I love you so damn much, Jax knight.” He grew even more flustered and muttered, “shut up.” “I do!” I hissed. Grinning, he said, “does that mean lots of f.ucking when we get out of here?” Grinning back, I nodded and taking my hand he kissed the back of it and we moved forward. No one else was around, so it was just our criminals and their two extra friends to worry about in here. We crept down the stairs on the other side. It led to a back office room, which made it easier for us to stealthily get about. “It really does feel like a video game,” I grinned. Jax shoved me gently and whispered, “stop being such a nerd and concentrate.” We snuck up on them, and then we withdrew our guns. Yep, we had to be trained how to use a gun, and that had also taken me forever just like everything else before I could finally use one pretty good, and more importantly, safely without shooting myself. Jax hated me using it, he thought I was too clumsy for such a dangerous weapon, but I’d stubbornly insisted. “Put your f.ucking hands up!” Jax yelled. When I looked over and frowned at him, he shrugged not taking his eyes off them and muttered, “what? It sounds cool in those f.ucking games you keep banging on about.” “Yeah, not so cool in real life, buddy,” I replied. He gave me a quick dirty look and then said to the woman holding the package containing the drugs. “Put it the f***k down.” “Who the f***k are you two?” The ringleader asked. She was a scary looking woman, she was the same height as Jax at six two and built like a freaking wrestler. Both her arms had tattoo sleeves, artwork of roses, skulls, guns I think and other things. She noticed Jax’s own tattoo sleeve and nodded at it. “Nice work.” “Cheers,” he replied. If she thought she could trick Jax into a false sense of friendliness, she was sorely misled, Jax trusted nothing and no one outside of his brothers and me. Like I thought she would, she put the package down calmly and then moving supernaturally fast, she withdrew her own gun and tried firing, but Jax shot her in the shoulder making her drop the gun. The others sprang into action, one of the men grabbed me from behind and a second was coming to help. Jax was busy fighting his two guys, so I lifted my legs up, using the fact the man behind was holding me tightly, and I kicked as hard as I could with both legs at the other man. He wasn’t expecting it, so I connected with his stomach and he went flying back into some boxes. I saw Jax punch one of his men hard enough that he was disoriented and sort of stumbled around while Jax did a sidekick to the other man kicking him with full werewolf strength in his ribs, breaking them. I literally heard them c.rack and cringed. The guy fell to the floor, crying out and gasping. With my guy, I did what I saw people do in the movies because I was an i.diot. I smashed the back of my head into his face and while it did connect with his face hard and make him bleed and let me go, I also hurt myself, he’d bitten the back of my head from the impact and I felt dizzy from the force I’d used. Jax came over with nothing but a bloody nose. “You ok?” He tilted my chin up and looked me over. “Yeah, just hurt the back of my head.” He moved behind me and gently prodded until I yelped when he touched the bite mark. “Darling, don’t copy people in the movies you watch.” “How did you know?” I asked surprised. He snorted at me, “because it’s you.” We got them all cuffed and bagged the evidence, and then we dragged them out and managed to leave the sight without alerting any other guards. Our team took over as soon as we were out, and the group were thrown into the back of the van. “Well done, you two,” Matilda said. “Thanks,” I grinned. “Don’t get too excited, I want a report on everything that went down.” Jax groaned at that, and she left us and joined the team. It was late when we finally finished our reports and got to go home. Jax drove us past the strip club we had gone to for the wereleopard and I asked, “so you used to be a stripper?” “What?” He asked. “You used to strip, right?” He grew uncomfortable and mumbled, “yeah, not for long.” “How long?” “I don’t know, a year or two.” “That’s long enough! What made you want to strip?” He grew irritated, and I knew it was because he was embarrassed. “I don’t f.ucking know, I thought it would be easy to get girls.” When I looked at him, he shrugged. “What? You asked.” “Was it easy?” “Yeah, kind of.” “What does that mean?” “It means it was easy to get the girls, but they weren’t happy when I didn’t want to f***k them. They didn’t want just foreplay.” “You don’t need to be embarrassed about being a stripper.” “I’m not a f.ucking stripper anymore.” “You know what I mean, you don’t need to be embarrassed you did it.” “Why? You like the thought of a male stripper dancing for you?” He asked. Like before, he didn’t joke or tease, he looked like he wanted a serious answer, so blushing I nodded, “that would be really hot.” He rose his eyebrows and looked at me. “Seriously?” I nodded again and with a serious face, he said, “I’ll do it for you if you want.” “You’ll strip for me?” I asked, blushing hard at the thought and growing wet. His eyes were on the road as he drove. “Yeah, but if I do, please don’t f.ucking tell Rom or Fenris.” I nodded eagerly. “Ok, I won’t, I swear.” Looking at me again, he bit his lower lip watching my face for any sign I was lying, when he was convinced I meant it, he blew out a laugh and said, “alright.”
