Neeko's P.O.V I woke up at the sound of my blaring alarm. Groaning, I snoozed it and went back to sleep. I'd been doing my assignments till late so I was too tired to even move. Ignoring the voice of my wolf in my head, I tried to get some sleep. '' Neeko! Get up. We're going to be late!'' it was my annoying twin brother who barged in without knocking. Mannerless brat! I pulled the blanket over my head and tried to ignore the figure standing beside my bed. When I didn't react, he pulled the blanket off of me. Still sleepy and light headed, I gave him the scariest glare that I could. He gasped, ''Holy cow! What's wrong with your eyes?'' His reaction was expected considering the fact that I had bloodshot eyes and dark circles around my eyes due to my late night assignments. I probably looked like a panda than a she wolf. I sighed and got up from my bed. Ignoring him, I headed to the bathroom. ''Come and have breakfast in five minutes.'' I heard him say as I heard his footsteps walking away. It didn't take me long to freshen up and get dressed. I had my round glasses on since I didn't want to scare anyone. I had my breakfast and hurried outside where Nathan was waiting for me. I got in his car and he drove us to school. I'm a highschool teenage she wolf. Nothing special about me. I'm neither good at sports nor any particular combat. No special talents and hobbies unlike my twin brother who's both energetic and powerful. Well, he has to be since he's taking the position of our father as a beta of Blood Moon pack. Our parents are both powerful and clever. It seems I didn't inherent any of their genes. The only thing I'm good at is talking to animals and digging my nose in books. I'm kinda anti social. Yeah I know I'm boring but I love the way I am. It saves much of my energy. '' Our parents are coming back from the capital.'' Nathan informed once we reached school. '' You mean today? '' I asked. He nodded. Both of our parents live in the capital assisting the Alpha. Since grandma couldn't move to the capital, they left us to accompany her. They visited us as often as they could though. '' I should have told you sooner. I'm sorry'' I'm so used to being emotionally numb that it's hard for me to be surprised. But I nodded and mumbled anyway ,''it's OK. '' The day passed in a blur and soon I was heading back home with Nathan. Somehow, this didn't feel like an ordinary visit. Something inside me was uncomfortable and I felt agitated. My intuition was proved right when we reached home. '' You want me to what?'' I asked in shock and disbelief. This was really a huge shock to me. Probably the aftereffect of feeling numb for quite a while. '' We know it's hard for you honey. But we promise it's for your best. And we'll always be there to protect you '' my mom tried reasoning with me. But I didn't understand how disguising as my twin brother and taking his role was for my best. I looked at Nathan in uncertainty. He didn't look fazed at all. So he knew about it. '' Do you also think that it's for my best? '' I asked, my voice threatening to tremble. He looked me with a pained expression but didn't say a word. He knew it was dangerous. But he wasn't arguing with our parents. That meant it was a better choice than any other choices left. Nathan had always been rational in his ways of doing things. He's very protective of me too since I can't fight. That's why, I trusted him. I trusted that whatever reason my brother and parents had, it must be important. Even though every cell in my body screamed to argue with them and run away or at least ask for a proper explanation, I agreed to them. '' Nathan, mom, dad, whatever reason you have to make me go through this, I believe that you'll let me know when the right time comes. So I won't nag about it now. But when the time demands it, you have to tell me everything. Can you promise me that? '' I was calm as I uttered those words. Too calm that I even scared myself. '' We promise sweetie. Please forgive us for making you do this. I wish we had another choice. We love you. '' my father hugged me as I felt his tears on my head. Soon my mother and brother came to join us and we were hugging each other for what felt like eternity. '' I'll protect you no matter what happens''Nathan hugged me again. '' I know you will. ''
