CHAPTER 4

Kara stood in front of the big mirror in her room. Looking at how her armour fitted her well. It was light and the Queen made sure that part of their skin was always exposed. Kara finally picked up the final piece of her armour the most important, the hamlet with Valkyrie wings. She was ready for whatever was to come, because today was the day she would possibly meet Luke again after 12 years. She never planned for it to happen this way but it seemed that fate had other plans for her. If it came down to running she would. Kara could fight him but she wasn’t ready for an entire nation to be on her back. She wasn’t in the mood for unnecessary drama. Kara looked at herself satisfied, her wings hanging gracefully beside her, her knifes sorted in their socket around her right thigh. She was always ready for a fight. A soft knock came from opposite her door and she sighed not in the right frame to talk with Hildr or her dad. ‘Yes, come in’.  Kara said turning away from the mirror and looking towards the door as Hildr came through. ‘I see you are dressed in the official armour’. Hildr said remaining at the door. ‘I am on official business’. Kara said are lips in a straight line. ‘I know I’m the last person you want to see right now’. Hildr said and Kara rolled her eyes but remained still. ‘Speak Hildr I have to be by the crown Princes’ side at any moment’. Kara finally said getting annoyed at her. ‘I’m sorry for how I’ve acting I was just upset that you kept that part of you a secret after all the years we’ve lived together’. Hildr said, almost making Kara feel said for how she just snapped at her. Kara walked closer to Hildr and looked down at her, because she was taller. She held the door frame and lined closer to Hildr and whispered, ‘You were right to be afraid, I’ve wasted my time living with someone who didn’t trust me it showed your true colours’. ‘Kara I said I was sorry’. Hildr said, and all Kara could do was laugh at how ridiculous she sounded. ‘Sorry doesn’t heal wounds Hildr, if that was the cause all the years I spent apologizing to my dead mother for my friend’s betrayal should have healed my broken heart but it didn’t’. Kara said still holding onto the door frame. ‘Will you hold me to this forever?’ Hildr asked trying to squeeze out the door. ‘There is no forever because I won’t be here’. Kara said and opened the door wider and walked out of her room. She was tempted to blow something but that would cause too much trouble so she kept her anger like she always did. Kara doesn’t eat much so her trip to the palace would be easier. She made it out her door and thankful she didn’t cross paths with her dad. Kara calmed herself and spread her wings wide, flapping them once and with a heavy gush she zoomed up into the sky. Flying towards the palace, she twisted her body twice while flying in the air and finally saw the palace in her eye sight. Kara speed up and landed lightly on her feet, and dramatically as always. Her team turned around and bowed their heads in acknowledgement of her presence. ‘At ease guys’. Kara said walking closer to them. Sigrun appeared from behind the group and stood beside Kara. Sigrun looked lost and Kara knew why but she chose not to touch base on what has already happened. YESTERDAY Kara landed on Sigrun’s house because she lived alone and saw her seated outside reading something. Sigrun lifted her head as she saw her friend walk towards her with urgency. Sigrun stood from her seat as Kara approached. ‘Kara is there something wrong?’ Sigrun asked. ‘Not now but they will be’. Kara said standing tall as she spoke to Sigrun. ‘What do you mean by they will be?’ Sigrun asked Kara again. ‘I need you to listen to me, the Queen has no mercy so if it comes down with you having to fight me, at any point I need you to fight with no mercy’. Kara said still holding her face. ‘Why would they come a time that I need to fight you?’ Sigrun asjed trying to make sense out of what Kara just told her. ‘If it comes down to me escaping, promise me you will fight me without your emotions. If you don’t listen the Queen will wipe out your entire family including you’. Kara said reaching out and holding Sigrun’s shoulder. ‘Fine, I promise’. PRESENT ‘Okay I will need two guards to be around the Human King’s guards to watch their moves and report anything suspicious’. Kara said and two guards went on their way, she instructed the rest and everything was set that’s when she really turned to look at Sigrun. ‘You remember what we spoke about yesterday yes?’ Kara asked Sigrun seriously. ‘I do but…..’. Sigrun went to say but Kara stopped her mid sentence. ‘We don’t discuss this again what was said shall happen, now let’s go’. Kara started walking towards the crown Prince’s chambers, leaving Sigrun behind her looking like someone poured a second bucket of iced water on her. Sigrun heavily followed behind Kara to the crown Prince’s chambers. In 10mintues they stood outside the crown Prince’s room and Kara turned to look at Sigrun. ‘Wait outside, I’ll go inside and see if he is ready’. Kara said and looked at the two guards in front of the door, she nodded and one of them turned and knocked on the door. ‘Yes’. The voice of the Prince could be heard from inside his chambers. ‘Captain Kara and her second in command are here, shall I let them through?’ One guard asked. ‘Let Kara in, the other can wait outside’. Kara rolled her eyes because she knew this is exactly what he was going to say. ‘Captain you can go in, she waits outside’. The guard opens the doors and Kara walks in and sees the Prince seated on his couch reading Telli (What humans know as book). He looked so calm like he was not the main person for the event taking place today. Kara drew herself closer and got down on her knees to greet the Prince. Brynhildr put the Telli down and stood from the couch, made his way to Kara and help her to her feet. ‘Kara if you agree to be my wife you wouldn’t have to bow so much’. Brynhildr said still holding Kara’s hand. She wanted to pull her hand away because he made her feel sweaty but she held away the disgust and only smiled at him. ‘You know I am not ready to marry’. Kara said slowing wiggling her hand from his grip. ‘That can hardly be true. You are of age already Kara, or can it be that you still dream of Gunner?’ Brynhildr said waiting for Kara’s shocked reaction, but she doesn’t give him any. ‘I don’t dare dream of Gunner. I did make an oath in front of the Queen. I can never defy her’. Kara said annoyed at such a low blow. ‘That’s all good, with that beside, how do I look? Am I not just dashing?’ Brynhildr asked Kara and answered the question himself. ‘You always look dashing your highness’. Kara said getting bored of being in his presence. ‘Thank you my dear Kara. Let’s not waste anymore time. Shall we?’ Brynhildr said indicating for Kara to take the lead. Kara walked in front of him and opened the door to the Chambers and they walked out. Kara walked in front of Prince Brynhildr while Sigrun was at the back. She knew that things weren’t going to be easy and the urge to rip out his Luke’s heart was growing but she had to hold herself back.
