The Conflict
The wet grass gave me a cool sense of relief during this unseasonably hot summer. I snuck away from my home, Gehanna, and came to Earth. I love my home, but father had begun talking about the possibility of me taking the throne and, with all the meetings, responsibilities, and eternal decisions, I found peace in this quiet little realm. I know the horrors Earth is capable of, but there I've seen the beauty and kindness outweigh them tenfold. I dare not let humans know who I really am; the stories passed down of the Son of God were enough to scare them and that's the son of a Celestial they worship. My name is Lilianna Morningstar, daughter of Lucifer and Lily Morningstar. I am the first born and only daughter of Lucifer. Lucifer, the Devil, heh. I laughed to myself. The ridiculous notion that he's evil and causing chaos in the mortal realm was something I could never quite understand. Mortals were beautiful but they were ridiculous. They worship their God based on falsehood. They don't know the real Lucifer, not like I do. They don't know the real story. If they only knew the truth about how The Creation came to be. Who God and Lucifer really are to each other. They see my home, Gehanna, and call it Hell. A place of cruelty, pain, and endless suffering. They believe that the soul truly rests in what they call Heaven, but to me, it's Caelum. I was sitting in an empty meadow, the scent of roses and sunflowers filled my head and I was lost in thought when I heard a strange sound. I turned my head to see a beautiful man standing before me with hateful eyes. I was going to ask him why he was staring at me when he lunged forward with a knife to attack me. He jumped on top of me trying to stab me in the heart and I struggled against him. He was strong, but I was stronger. I pushed him back, causing the knife to fall out of his hands. I used my celestial powers to levitate him in the air and throw him 100 feet away from me against a tree. I didn't see him move so I assumed he had been knocked unconscious. I walked over to the knife to pick it up, but was startled to see it's intricate design. This was no ordinary knife, this was the Daggar of Destiny. The only weapon in existence that can truly kill any Divine being or celestial, even God himself. The last time that this dagger was seen or used was when God's son was executed. It was an ordinary weapon at the time, but it was infused with Divine blood, thus making it a means for immortal destruction. I picked it up and turned back to head towards the unconscious man, but when I had reached the tree, he was missing. I searched around me until I found him sitting with his back against a large boulder.
"Why do you have this and why were you trying to attack me?" I asked with rage in my voice. I had no idea who he was, but this man hated me enough to wipe me from total existence.
"I don't need to answer you, demon spawn." He spit venomously at me. He knows who I am. I didn't tell a single human who I was, yet this man spoke of me in the same regard they speak of my father. His aura was strange, I had never seen it before. He had a Divine glow to him which meant he was not human, but I could feel he was not a Celestial. Celestials give off a strong aura due to our powers. It's enough to make mortals feel uneasy. I've only ever known my family to have this strong aura, my father, my 2 younger brothers, and Elohim. God. My father's brother. Not the angel that fell from grace, as humans are led to believe. Lucifer and Elohim were birthed to create the Earth together in balance. Lucifer, my father, was the dark and Elohim, God, was the light. They worked side by side, in tandem, to create the mortals, the beauty I came to love on Earth. But Elohim wanted more than creation. He wanted them to worship him, be devoted to him, need him. He created a false sense of good and evil, and when my father tried to stop him, he was banished to an empty realm. While my father was banished, Elohim finished their plans and called it The Creation. He created mortals, but had no regard for them if they did not act in the way he intended. This is how my father met my mother, Lily. Elo had created man and named him Adam, but what the mortal's story book does not tell you is that the first woman was not Eve, she was Lily. She did not bow to Adam as Elo had intended. She was strong willed and did not see herself to appease a man. Because of this, Elo banished her to the same realm as my father. Both had been tossed aside as if their existence were meaningless. Together, they transformed the abandoned and empty realm into something beautiful and made it a place they can exist just together. They fell in love. The mortals don't know that this is the truth. The God they worship is full of lies and deceit all in the name of vanity and ego.
"I asked a simple question, being that it's my life you're trying to wipe from existence, I believe I deserve to know why." I asked in a softer tone. I never believed in violence. People will not listen if you speak to them like they are less. I searched the man's face for a shred of empathy, but could find none. "Please" I pleaded with him. The man's eyes softened and stared at me with question. His ocean blue eyes looking into mine, as if to find truth or sincerity.
"I am Michael, and you are my mission."
"Michael? Archangel Michael? Are you all real? I thought the Archangels were a story my mother invented to scare me into going to sleep early. What do you mean I am your mission?" I asked, puzzled. What could I possibly be a target for?
"The Almighty has advised us that you are a threat and must be dealt with. You will be the downfall of Earth." he said coldly. As if I could ever be the reason Earth would be destroyed. I love the mortals, the animals, everything here is beautiful. How could I be the reason for its destruction?
"The downfall? How could I possibly do that? I've been to Earth several times, and have only sought the peace of nature and reveled in its beauty. Why would I even THINK about destroying Earth?" I countered.
I could see him pondering my words, trying to differentiate between what he'd been told and what he had witnessed. I could see a struggle forming in him, to blindly believe or go with his heart. I could sense something off, he didn't seem to have the free will and mind like the mortals do. It was as if he was created and programmed to believe anything he was told by Elohim. Being that I have creation powers as well, it seemed cruel to let him be someone else's puppet. I walked towards him and went to kneel at his side. I stretched out my hands to grab his face, but his hands grabbed my wrist franticly to stop me.
"What are you doing?" He asked worriedly.
"It's OK, I'm not going to hurt you, I'm not trying to twist your thoughts to make you believe what I want you to. That's not a power I have. I can sense that when you were created, you weren't fully given free will. That means your master gave you the ability to make decisions based on what he makes you believe is true. You are not able to question his words and actions. I can't alter your thoughts, but I can give you free will in its entirety so you can truly make a decision for yourself." I answered earnestly. He seemed unsure but let go of my wrists anyway to allow me to continue.
I placed my hands on either side of his head, from temple to jaw, closed my eyes and called on my creationist powers to instill free will into his soul. He started breathing heavily, as if he was in a battle. I opened my eyes to see sheer horror on this mans face. It was as if his mind was trapped in a cage and I was prying it open. When I was done, his breathing slowed and the horror faded into confusion.
"How do you feel? Are you ok? Did I hurt you?" I asked nervously. I told him I wouldn't hurt him, but when I saw his face, I was afraid I had. I've never used my creation power before. It takes up a tremendous amount of energy and my father always told me there was never a need for it anymore. I felt slightly exhausted, but I didn't attempt a full creation as my father and his brother had so I was in much better shape.
"I.. don't know. There was no pain, but it felt like my mind was being pulled apart, as if to make room for something new, something different. Now I feel.... free. I can't explain it, it's like I'm taking everything in for the first time and I have thoughts I've never had before." He explained. He looked into my eyes as if he were seeing me for the first time. It made me chuckle. It's like a baby seeing the world for the first time, all the wonder and excitement mixed with fear and caution at seeing something you never have before.
"Well, why don't I tell you about my side of the story? Being that you were sent here to kill me based on what Elo told you. I feel it's only fair you listen to my experience so you can make your own decision if you feel I am still a threat. Sound fair?" I asked. He chuckled with embarrassment and nodded his head. And so I began to tell him everything that father told me, everything from as far back as I can remember, and all my wonderful experiences in this realm of man. We continued to talk and I felt something strange. I enjoyed talking to him and opened up about my fears of taking the throne. He listened intently and offered suggestions. I was feeling all bubbly inside and felt safe with him. Who would think? We watched as the sun had set on the horizon and decided to continue meeting with each other. If only we had known about the trouble headed our way.
