Thirty-Eight
On Friday morning, Carl received an email from Crime Stoppers with a link to an mp4 file on their server. He clicked on the link and watched the video that played. It was a recording of a street scene, captured by a dash mounted video camera, and appeared to have been taken at night.
Carl didn’t immediately recognise the street and was wondering why they’d sent him the recording, when he noticed a van pulling out of a driveway and moving away from the camera. He watched as the car holding the camera followed the tail lights of the van, and gradually closed in on the back of the van as it slowed to turn left. Carl recognised the intersection when a sign for the Bayside Hotel appeared on the right of the screen. Then he saw the three words on the back of the van: Hot Sands Bak
