Carl was fixing Nina a cold drink in the kitchen, listening to the evening news on the TV, when the story broke that four public servants working for the Office of State Supply, including Sonya Curtis, the head of the agency, had been suspended on full pay pending the outcome of an inquiry by the Corruption Commissioner, and that Auditor General Steven Wilmington had tendered his resignation to the Premier.
He stopped what he was doing to ponder the implications, and decided that Drake must have been onto something after all.
