SIX: CATHERINE’S POV.
It was a thing of joy that I had left the sober moon pack, but I made sure I left all the memories behind—including that of Alpha Damien.
The look on his face was strange—but still, I was confused on why he looked sad.
Not sure if it was just my imagination, but I discarded the thought knowing fully well that it wasn’t possible.
There I was—in blood moon pack..
The Lycan king’s pack, who’s possibly said to be my mate
His Beta had directed me to my room, while the Lycan excused himself—and went straight to his room.
It wasn’t up to five minutes that I had entered my room, I heard a light knock on the door—thinking it was my mate, I rushed to open it—just to meet with disappointment.
I guess they were maids, but still—I was confused on what they were doing in my room.
“Please how may I help you?” I asked politely, but they suddenly bowed their heads.
They were three in number, and also looked neater than the maids in silver moon pack.
“We are here to help clean and dress you up,” They said, and I felt my eyes widen in shock.
“Clean and dress me up?” I repeated, obviously surprised—but deep down, I knew this was the hand work of the Lycan king.
They simply nodded with their heads down—
“Why were they showing me so much respect,” I asked myself in shock, but suddenly cleared my throat loud enough to get their attention.
“Thanks for asking, but I can clean and dress up myself,” I said, and made to shut the door—but they held it, their eyes becoming misty.
“Ma please, we don’t want to loose our job,” They pleaded, getting on their knees.
I was stupefied and speechless at the same time—but I wouldn’t want to just stress the maids on the things I knew could do myself.
“It’s fine, you can come in—I’ll just dress myself and act like you all did it for me,” I said, but still they refused the offers.
“Seems like the maids of this pack enjoys working,” I thought silently.
“Please just let us do our job,” One of them said, and I gave up.
“Fine,” I said, entering the bathroom to take my bathe, so they could begin with their jobs.
It wasn’t long and I was done bathing—wrapped in a white towel, I walked out of the bathroom just to see them seated patiently, as they waited for me to come out.
I saw the clothes they brought out already, and I sighed deeply—finding it difficult to believe that it was all real.
Remembering how I was one of those who served Saraphina, I knew that indeed this world was a small place.
I picked up the clothes and glanced at them, making them turn their backs on me—and I quickly dressed up.
I wore the brown pants they brought out for me with a while crop top, and to my surprise—the clothes fitted me perfectly.
“Please have your seat,” One of them pointed at a vacant seat, and I sat hesitantly.
Slowly, they began to dress my hair—applying different oils on it as they massaged it slowly.
Enjoying what they were doing to me, I closed my eyes—as their hands did magic to my hair.
Next thing was that they packed it in a ponytail, and when I opened my eyes to take a glance at myself—I couldn’t believe it.
My hair shone brightly, and I wondered if it was really me—because I looked different.
I won’t sound proud, but I knew I was exceptionally beautiful!
Next thing was that I heard another knock on the door, and one of the maids present with me went to open the door—
“Your food is ready ma’am,” She announced, and I nodded slowly.
“Is it possible that you can help me with it up here—I’d love to have dinner in my room,” I said, but she looked a little bit worried when I asked her—and when I confirmed it was when she stood there, even after delivering the message.
“Is anything the matter?” I asked, but she kept mute.
“I’m asking you?” I said again, and she sighed deeply before looking up to glance at me.
“It’s just because the Lycan King asked you to come and join him,” She said and my eyes widened.
“Where’s he?” I asked rather hastily while a rush of excitement surged over me.
“The dining room,” She replied quickly and I sighed deeply.
“Where is it?” I asked again, really impatiently and she pointed outside.
“It’s downstairs,” She said, and without waiting for her to complete her statement—I rushed out of the room, heading downstairs to meet him.
My mate!
I saw his figure seated, as I descended the step steadily—but it seemed like he wasn’t aware that I was behind him.
“You’re here—finally,” He suddenly said, and turned his head backwards—flashing me a smile as I walked to a seat.
I sat down directly opposite him, as we both stared at each other—
I slowly began to dish out a little portion of food on my plate, while I felt his eyes transfixed on me.
After scooping my food on my plate, I sat down and ate it slowly—
The silence between us was so awkward, but within it lies a lot of unanswered questions from me, and tension as well.
“Hope you’re enjoying your stay here,” His husky voice suddenly broke deep into my thoughts and I nodded, flashing him a beautiful smile.
“Yes—I’m being treated like a princess here,” I said with a happy smile on my face, and he chuckled.
“That is just what I want,” He muttered underneath his breath.
“Huh, What did you say?” I asked with creased brows.
I heard him, but I just wanted him to repeat it again—because it felt good.
“I just want to see you happy,” He said and a light smile slowly crept on my lips.
Then suddenly, his mood changed—and I was left to wonder why his face looked angry.
“I hated the way you were being treated—and I just want to see you happy,” He said with clenched fists and then, I knew that he cared for me really well.
“I never wanted a weak mate, so seeing them treat you that way was enough to get my blood boiling,” He said and I sighed deeply—wondering about what he meant by the statement that he doesn’t want a weak mate.
“But I need your help, Cathy,” He said, breaking into my thoughts and I narrowed my eyes at him—waiting for him to continue.
“I need your help to show my mum that you’re my mate—at least, she needs to know that I have a mate even if she’s very sick, and dying slowly,” He said and I felt my eyes widen in shock.
