Chapter 6: Adele

Everything seemed normal until Adele showed up, everyone liked her, she's beautiful and smart, also, possessive and abusive for love at the same time.
I am sitting in my usual spot, Brian is beside me. Brian immediately stopped Adele who was coming towards me.
"Easy, Brian. I just wanted to greet my friend." Then she smirks at me.
"Don't make a mess here, Adele. You know me, I will do everything to get you out of my way again."
"I know right, that's why I love you." Then she walked towards me.
"This is just the beginning." Then she tapped me and walked away.
“Don’t worry, Brian and I will protect you.” James said.
I just smiled at them.

We're at the treehouse after school, Lia and James also went somewhere.
"Brian, I really miss this, just you and me, no sh*ts, no Adele, but now it's like a living hell when Adele comes."
Brian held my hand and kissed me on my forehead.
"I am really sorry, I didn't see her coming."
I looked at him. "Brian, can you just be honest? Who is Adele?"
"I don't know if you can handle what I'm going to tell you, Adele wanted to kill me before, because she loved me so much and she doesn't want me to love another woman."
“What? Did she really do that?”
“Yes, before we moved here, Adele and I were friends, but when I met James, she suddenly changed, the one she used to be, how she would talk to me and how she looked at me, her eyes seemed to be burning with anger. And the reason for all that is because she likes me. At first she also befriended James, but James knew that there was something else with Adele, he became alert to Adele’s actions, until one day, Adele asked James out, but he told me about it and I followed them where they were going, Adele took James to the old warehouse, there she tried to kill James, she hit him on the head and there I went out to help James.
**Flashback
I saw Adele hit James on the head and when she’s about to hit him again, I went out to help James.
“Adele, stop!” She looked at me.
“This is not you, Adele.”
She walked towards me and touched my face.
“This is what you made me do, Brian. I gave you everything.” (Adele sobbing)
“Everything is perfect, just you and me, until this stupid James came to our life.”
“Adele, this is enough. You know that I looked at you as my little sister, just that Adele.”
Adele laughed maniacally.
“Is that so? Little sister? Then die, Brian, die!”
She also hit me on my head and I hear her saying,
“If you don't love me too, you'd better just die!”
**End of flashback
“And then I lost consciousness, I just woke up lying in the hospital for about two months, she hit my head really badly, luckily James wasn’t hurt that much.”
“Then what happened to Adele?”
“She was charged for Assault, attempt of murder, and she ran from the law, but the police found her she spent two months in Juvie which is the same months that I was in coma. But, since we're in legal age now, my sister tried to open the case again and we didn't win, since she has some mental issues."
I just looked at Brian, I knew it was hard for him to tell me what happened, but all I could do was hug him.

After I heard Brian’s story, I became much closer to him, even though I knew Adele could hurt me. I told Lia about it and she helped me do some background investigation on Adele.
"Lia, thank you for helping me with this, I am just really curious about Adele."
"Of course, I will always help you, no matter what, hey, wait, look at this."
She gave me her laptop, I read the article that Lia showed me and I was surprised by what I read.
"Is this true?" I looked at her.
"I don't know."
*Phone ringing / Brian calling
"Hello, Brian."
"What are you doing? Where are you?"
"I'm home, Lia and I are just hanging out. Why?"
"Nothing. You just stay there no matter what happens."
"Can you just please tell me what's happening?"
"Sir, we need to go."
"Just listen to me, Avery."
*Call ended.
"What's happening, Ave?"
"I don't know. He didn't tell me anything, he just--" I looked outside and saw that the guards are all in code red, they put their guns out and everyone seems to be so alert.
"Lia, there is something wrong."
*Phone beeps and I open the video message.
"Hey, Avery. Did you receive my gift? I found your mom." Then she laughs maniacally.
*End of video.
I opened the other message and she sent me a photo of my mom just hanging out.
"No. Don't hurt her!" I was freaking out and yelling on my phone like I was talking to Adele, Lia hugged me.
"Shh, I know Brian will do something about this."
"I will not forgive myself if something bad happens to mom or dad."
(Loud banging from the front door.)
"Avery! Open the door!"
I ran downstairs and opened the door, Lia followed me.
"I am sorry. I already sent some guards to your mom's place. They will protect her." Then kissed me on my forehead.
"I really don't know what to do, Brian." (Sobbing)
"Brian, where's James?" Lia.
"He went to Adele's place to spy on her. But, you don't need to worry."
*Brian's phone ringing / James calling.
"Hello, James, what's up?"
"She's here, she didn't move a foot, our guess is right she hired some private investigator to check on Avery's mom."
"I knew it. Thanks. You must come here to Ave's place, Lia is worried about you."
"Okay, Lia I love you!" James shouted over the phone, then hung up.
*End of call.
--- Meanwhile, James finally arrived at our house, I was relieved that she's at her house.
*Phone beeps / One message received; Unknown number.
Did I scare you? You even let James spy on me? For what reason? Just checking on me if I will do something? It's too early, darling, I am just starting the party.
"It's from her right?" Lia asked Brian.
"Yes." He let us read the message.
"Adele, is really pissing me off! Why can't she just move on?!" James shouted.
"We'll get through this, let's just act like she's not here."
I just sigh.
"Yes, maybe she will stop." I said positively.
