The living room was quiet except for the sound of the television.
It was 9:30 p.m., and the annual movie awards ceremony was being broadcast live. Chisom sat comfortably on the couch, her eyes fixed on the screen. A bright smile rested on her face as she eagerly waited for her favorite actor to appear.
The front door opened, and Daniella walked into the living room.
"You're still awake watching this award show?" she asked, surprised.
Chisom smiled and patted the empty space beside her.
"Yes, Sis. Come and sit down. Let's watch together."
Daniella sat beside her and looked at the television.
"What are you enjoying so much about this award show?"
Chisom's eyes never left the screen.
"I'm waiting for my romantic, handsome, light-skinned guy to win. Just sit down, Sis. You'll enjoy the show."
Daniella laughed softly as they both turned their attention to the television.
The hall on the screen fell silent as the presenter stepped forward with an envelope in his hand.
"And the Best Actor of the Year award goes to..."
The audience held their breath.
Daniella glanced at her younger sister.
"Are you sure he'll win this year?"
Chisom nodded confidently.
"I'm very sure."
The presenter smiled before announcing the winner.
"The Best Actor of the Year goes to... David Isaac!"
Chisom jumped to her feet with excitement.
"I told you!" she screamed happily. "I told you, Sis! He would win!"
Daniella quickly looked toward the hallway.
"Lower your voice. If Daddy finds out we're still awake, you know what will happen."
"Abeg, leave Daddy's matter for now," Chisom replied with a wide grin. "I'm happy. Don't ruin this moment."
Just then, their mother's voice echoed from the hallway.
"Chisom!"
The excitement on Chisom's face faded slightly as she hurried toward the living room entrance.
"Yes, Mum?"
"You two are still awake? Turn off the television. Chisom, don't you know tomorrow is Monday? Switch it off and go to bed."
"Okay, Mum," Chisom answered quietly.
Her mother nodded before returning to her room.
Daniella smiled.
"I warned you not to shout. I'm going to bed."
"Wait now," Chisom pleaded. "Let's watch him receive the award."
"You can tell me everything tomorrow. Good night."
Daniella walked into her room, leaving Chisom alone in the living room.
Smiling to herself, Chisom lowered the television volume and continued watching.
David Isaac walked onto the stage to receive his award as the audience applauded.
He accepted the trophy with a grateful smile.
"I want to thank my family, my mum, my fans, and God Almighty for this wonderful award. Thank you all for your endless support."
Before leaving the stage, he blew a kiss toward the audience.
Chisom placed her hand on her chest and smiled.
"Aww... so cute," she whispered. "I hope I get to meet you someday."
A few minutes later, the ceremony ended.
She switched off the television and slowly walked into her bedroom, unaware that the night had one more surprise waiting for her.
