Ted didn't like being addressed directly by a lesser being, and he ignored Ryan completely as if he did not exist.
"You need to learn to keep your friends in line," he said to Carl in a hard voice. "Any non-compliance will reflect badly in my reports to the alpha."
Ted rose from the table without excusing himself and left.
"No offense," Violet told Carl. "But I don't like your cousin."
"He is from Mother's side of the family," Tiara said, as if that explained everything.
Violet spent morning classes dreading the afternoon classes when she would have Ted for geometry. None of the others were in that class with her, so Violet was sure he would take the chance to single her out and bully her. If Ted's behavior toward 'halflings' was bad, it was an indication of how he thought of humans.
