"Does he seem a bit off to you lately?" Blake asked Violet when Ryan had left the room. "I think he is hiding something from us."
Even though Violet hated to ever think that Blake might be right about something. For she had no other explanation for the way Ryan had been lately.
"So, what do you want to do?" Violet asked Ryan.
They were wandering through the gardens, and although she knew that Ryan had only asked her out because Ted had been there, and had then promptly forgotten about it.
"What?" Ryan asked her, preoccupied. "Oh, I am not sure."
They walked a bit more. Violet had never found it hard to make conversation with Ryan before.
