After talking with my parents last night, there was no way I was in the mood to celebrate New Year’s. But it wasn’t a wasted trip, it turned out to be more useful than I ever expected. So, after a long, long discussion with my parents – them insisting I stay away from Jaeris and the royals at all costs – I called Amee and told her I wouldn’t be seeing her that night. I lied to my best friend, telling her that I just wasn’t feeling well and that I would see her again soon. I still feel rotten about it. I didn’t sleep much last night either.
