“Sit down, I’ll have a look at what’s here…” Natalie said as she let his hand go and opened the fridge. He sat down, amused, as she clucked her tongue, then opened the freezer and looked in there. She went back to the fridge and pulled out a few ingredients putting them on the island counter top in front of Mikhail. Then she went over to the cupboards and started pulling things out of there.
Mikhail hunched over the counter top, resting his elbow on it and resting his chin into his hand as he watched her, once again, normalizing an otherwise awkward and stressful situation. He couldn’t get enough of watching her like this…and imagining his whole life with her.
