CHAPTER 1 A Demonic Night

The arrival of the New Year brings enthusiasm and Joy to all the people, whether they are old or young. To welcome the New Year, many countries of the world celebrate their own kind. Similarly, it is celebrated in India too, but here the poor and rich people celebrate the New Year in different ways. While on the one hand rich peoples welcome New Year with liquor and dancing. On another side, the poor people after working for twenty-four hours can't able to extinguish the fire of their stomachs. Savita with her two daughters was living in Mohmadi village, Lucknow.

Her husband died in an accident a year ago. To run the expenses of her home, she used to do maid work in the other's house; her elder daughter Kamala, who would be around sixteen years old. After giving tuition to some children she went to school.

Kamala awakens up on the morning of 31 January 2000 and went to Kitchen with her mother asked "mother! What are you doing?"

"Nothing dear! Yesterday I returned from madam's home she gave to me some leftover food. I am warming it. Let go awake Naina, and get ready for the school" Savita.

"Ok mother, “Kamala, after she reaches Naina's bed, she was sleeping in a very deep sleep, trying to shake her "Naina! Wake up, time to go to school, and mother is calling you"

"Dear Sister! Please let me sleep today, It last day of the old year, everyone is busy in the preparation for welcoming New Year. I wouldn't go to school today" Naina

"OK but from tomorrow you will go to school every day" Kamala warn her

"Okay sister," Naina

After this, Naina again got into blanket sleep. And Kamala reached near to her mother “Mother! She doesn't want to go school today"

"Why does not she want to go, why do I cleans other's homes for the whole day, and you are working outside of the home at twelve hours in the age of playing, " Savita said with sorrow

"No, no, mother! Naina is a very wise girl, but now this little child some time childish behave, do not worry about her," Kamala

"Ok, you are spoiling her, if she rise trouble for you then don't tell me” Savita warned her

"Mother! You do not worry about anything, ok, I will come here late after school and have to do the job" Kamala

"Ok, dear" Savita

After this Kamal took her luggage and reach the Qila crossroad where she went to the Janata Girl's Inter College in Alambagh, from there she entered flat number 16 in the Panchal Nagar colony of the Manak Nagar. Reached into Mukherjee's house and knock at the door, Tarana Mukherjee opened the door "Come in, Kamala madam! Your student is waiting for you"

"Ok fine" Kamala

After that, she went to the child's room, taught him till two o'clock, and immediately reached the call center in Hajratganj.

After that she reached into the changing room to change her clothes, she sat down at her desk and worked till 9:30 pm. she reached into the changing room to take her belongings, where so many girls were sitting there with her.

"So Kamala! How was your today's day" Diana

"It was okay, now let we have to go home" Kamala

"Yes, our van is ready, “Diana

After that, everyone got into that van, at about 11 o'clock at night they reached the Qila crossroad, and from there she was going for the house, then a car stop coming to her and a boy. "Hello, Madam, can you tell this address?"

"Yes, why not, just show me" Kamala

"This is the address, today my friends planned a party in this club, but here we are new so not able to reached there" the boy

"Do not worry, The Avian bar is in Alambagh. you will go straight from here, reach at Kanpur road take the right turn and go to Alambagh and ask someone about it there you will reach there" Kamala

"Thank you," the boy sit in the car and start was going from there and Kamala also walking on to her house.

Savita comes back from her work and cooks food to feed her little daughter go to sleep. then Savita is waiting for Kamala when it’s twelve pm, "Do not know what has happened so far till now that I do not know where she is ?." she is thinking about her elder daughter by laying on the bed.

When it’s twelve o'clock in the morning, she is not able to stop herself and reach the door to her neighbors and knocked it "Brother! Please open the door!" Dhani Ram opened his door and asked “Sister! What happened? You come here too late “

"Brother! It’s twelve and a half o'clock of the morning, yet Kamala has not come back from work, I don't know where she is?" Savita

"What? She did not come yet, let's go find her" Dhani Ram shocked

"Yes, brother sir, it will be very thanks to you" Savita

After this, they reached the Qila crossroad with four to five peoples, went to all shops, and asked them.

"Brother! Did Mahi call center's van came here between 11 to 12 o'clock?" Savita

"Yes, it came here, what is the matter?" The shopkeeper

"Did you saw this girl going from here?" Savita asked

"Yes madam, this girl used came here like every day, and on feet was going to the village,” the shop owner

"Thank you" Savita

After this, she went to Dhani Ram and said "The brother came here on time and she was going from the road next to the fort"

"Well let's look on that road” Dhani Ram

After this, all of them were going for searching for her, reached The Smirati park crossroad. But they could not succeed to find her. Savita asked "Brother! Now we should report in the police station"

"Yes you are right” Dhani Ram

After that, all of them reached the police station, "Sir! My daughter is missing from half and 11 pm “Savita

"What are you saying? What was your daughter doing late at night?" Inspector Surya Dev said

"Sir, I am saying true, my daughter works in a call center, and tonight she landed on Qila crossroad at around 11.30 PM, she was heading towards the house but she did not reach the house," Savita

"What? She works in a call center, you are lying. She does not work in a call center, you would be running a prostitution racket by your daughter, she must be with any customer and go away from here, the morning she will return “Inspector Surya Dev

"What the f**k are you saying, one you do not find our daughter. Just you f**k here instead of searching her" Dhani ram said

"Yes, I am right saying, what relation with her? Are you her’s broker?" inspector Surya Dev tried to provoke him

"Inspector! Please shut your tongue into the mouth, otherwise, it would be harmful to you “Dhani Ram warned him

"Do what you want to do, now I would not file the report at any cost," said Inspector Surya Dev said

"You what, even your father will write this report” Dhani ram warned him, tried to fought him and everyone stopped him

"Who will we hear of the poor’s? They work only for the mistress of leaders and the rich. Brother! Let us go from here" Savita said with grief.

After that all of them were going out of the police station, then gatemen came near to them and said “I think all of you are in great trouble, you can help that retired Colonel Dhyan Chand,"

"Oh really! Please give me his address" Dhani Ram

"Sir, I am also a family man, let me take you to his house" Constable, after this the constable took them and reached a house in Sector-A Ashiyana colony and knock at the gate.

"Please open the gate, some people come here to meet Major Dhyan Chand" Constable knocked at the gate

"What's the matter, and what are you doing here tonight?" Bhola, gateman asked them inside the gate

"It’s a very important thing, I know very well that it's not time to meet him" Constable

"What's the matter?” Bhola asked. "Her daughter is missing from the eleven o'clock and my sir is not ready to file this report, so I have brought them here to meet sir" Constable

"Ok wait, I call him here," Bhola said

After that, he went to Major's room and awakened him, “Bhola! What happened, why are you awake at three o'clock in the morning?" Major Dhyan Chand asked, while awakening

"The daughter of poor women is missing from eleven o'clock in the night and the police are not ready to file her missing report, so the constable has brought her to you," Bhola

"In which police station she went to file missing? And who is the inspector? Let me meet her" Major Dhyan Chand asked

"Sir, he's the Inspector of the Ashiyana Police Station, let's go outside to meet her" Bhola

"Ok, you bring them in. I am coming there" Major Dhyan Chand said

After this Bhola went to them all. And brought them into home said “you all sit here, sir is coming to meet you?”, after that they sat there after a while Dhyan Chand stepping down, Seeing him Savita got up with joining her hands and requested him "Sir, find my daughter, she is the only one in my house to earn for support my house if anything happens to her. Then what will happen to my younger daughter?"

"Hey sister, why are you crying, you have come to my house, let us all find her again," Dhyan Chand said while emotionally support her.

"Sir, let's go" Savita, After that, again all of them reached the Qila crossroad, and asking the peoples, but all of them again replied the same as they replied the first time.

"I think that someone has kidnaped the girl “Major thought in his mind and told them "All right, everybody should go to every shop and asked them that anyone has seen any vehicle crosses from here at abnormal speed from eleven o'clock onwards”

"Sir, what are you saying?" Dhani Ram asked in an astonishing way,

"nothing, just I am trying to find her in a different way, maybe someone has Kidnapped her, and all of you will try to about her with all shoppers without saying this to Savita " Major Dhyan Chand said

"Ok, sir!" Similarly, on the crossroad, all of them started asking about her to all the shoppers. And Major arrived at a shop "Just Listen”

"Yes sir! What would you like to have? “Shopkeeper asked

"No, tell one thing, from this crossroad, there a vehicle that would have you seen coming or going faster than normal speed?" Major Dhyan Chand said

"Yes Sir, two cars had passed from here “the shopkeeper

"When did it go and where did go?" Major Dhyan Chand asked

"sir, around eleven-thirty o'clock went to Bijnor village side, and others came from the Bijnor village, it was about two o'clock " the shopkeeper

"Did the numbers and colors of both the cars were alike, and how many men were those cars?" Major asked

“both were different cars, one was a black foreign car with closed all windshield passed at eleven o'clock, so I couldn’t able to see inside. And another red car ‘zen’ was passed around 2 o’clock a man clearly seen inside “the shopkeeper

"Where did these two cars come from and where did they go?" Major Dhyan Chand asked

"The long car came from the powerhouse, and the red car went toward the powerhouse." The shop keeper

"Do you remember the number of any car?" Major Dhyan Chand asked

"Sir, I could not able to see numbers because cars were moving too fast" shop keeper

"Okay thanks," Major Dhyan Chand said

After that, Major Dhyan Chand went near Dhani Ram and others and said “look, from here two cars passed away from Kanpur road have been seen going from the crossroad and let’s also go check on this road”

"Yes sir, the forests of the fort and biotech park, we can search her there," Dhani ram said

"What are you guys saying, did they take her to this jungle? They cannot do this with my daughter," Savita was crying

"Sister! I am just guessing, oh! My God wishes to you that my guess will prove to be completely wrong" Major Dhyan Chand, they went to search, a bag appeared beside the gate at the side of the fort, then Dhani Ram said to the Major "It seems as like a girl's schoolbag on the gate"

"Let's go there," Major Dhyan Chand said, after that, they reached there, picked up the bag, and started looking at "sister! Look at this bag, it's your daughter's bag? “Major asked Savita,

"Yes, it is my daughter’s bag, and what she is doing here, did somehow bad happened to her?" Savita was crying

"No, sister! Nothing would happen with her?" Major Dhyan Chand said

"Sir! Look, here some blood's stains, and lots of footprints are visible “Dhani Ram called the major

"Let’s go in a hurry and look inside," Major ordered them

After this, they followed on the other end from one end of the fort, following a chase of bloodstains and footprints. They reached the village’s road and saw a girl’s dead body inlaid on her face down. They reached near to the dead body

"She seems to like my daughter, her face not visible, what happened to her?" Savita asked in deep sorrow

"Sister! Please try to recognize again, is she your daughter?" major Dhyan Chand said with handling her.

After she saw the dead body and starting crying "Yes brother, she is my daughter"

"All of you stay here and handle sister, I would be just coming after take action against the inspector” Major Dhyan Chand ordered them
