FACADE

Chapter Five

    The rest of the week was better and Jason did not cause any scene till the following week in the gym room when a senior spill coffee on his bag.

   He get angry when the boy tries to prove he is a senior and there is nothing he could do for him.

   He ask his friends to beat him up and he bought coffee and pour it on his notes and school uniform.

   I am in the class helping Florence to copy her note. She is just so slow at writing and not very good at spelling. So i decide to help her.

"Laila, i might not come to school for the rest of the week." Florence said.

"What? Why?" I asked a little surprise.

"Well i have an audition to attend."

"What kind of audition?" I am curious.

"A modelling audition."

"So you want to be a model or what?"

"Yeah." She shrug. "It had always been my dream. My aunty is a model so are my two older siblings."

"Your sisters?"

"My sister and brother." She said with a proud smile. "It's kind of run in the family but i want to be a super model like my aunty and Naomi Campbell. They are my idols." She look dreamily.

  I smile at her. I also have my dream. Even if i am going to miss her, i am happy for her.

"Okay. I wish you good luck." I said to her sincerely.

"Thank you Laila." She look grateful to have me support her.

    Then she begin to tell me a story about her uncle when Nbechi and two other girls in SS2 Platinum  came into the class.

   They sat down on the table facing Jessica.

"I heard Jason caused another scene in the cafeteria." Jessica said more of a question than a statement.

"Yes." One of the girls with Nbechi said in agreement.

"He asked Temi to kiss Dave."

"Seriously?" Jessica asked with her eyes wide open.

  Nbechi nods. "I don't know what Temi and Shade did but he was looking pissed. He told Shade to reveal what's under her shirt in front of everyone if she don't want her friend to kiss her boyfriend."

"She can't do that." Jessica said unbelievably.

"Who's going to do that in a cafeteria?" The other girl said rolling her eyes. "Temi had no choice than to kiss Dave."

"That's mean." Florence whispered to me. She had stop telling her story and we both listen to the girls.

"Dave and Shade had been couple for a long time now. Every one know they are in a relationship. A serious one. Temi and Shade are also long time best friend." Florence shaked her head.

   I stay quiet. I am getting frustrated at the stupid things Jason does. I feel like slapping him hard on the face.

  How could he ask someone to kiss her best friend boyfriend in front of her and practically the whole school?

  He really doesn't have no limit.

"Are you okay Laila?" Florence asked concern lace in her voice.

  I nod. "Yes, I'm fine. Can we not talk about Jason?"

"Of course. He disgust me too."

   Florence decides to hang out with her boyfriend after school. I don't want to be the thrid party and I have works to do at home, so i left them.

   Jason friends sat under the trees laughing and chatting loudly. One have a girl sit on his lap and he rub his hand on her leg.

   I was about to walk past them when one of them called my name. He is in SS2 emerald.

"Laila. Hi. You're going home already?" He asked. The others smile.

"Yes. It's closing isn't it?" I asked trying not get irritated by the way they smirk.

"Of course." Another replied.

"You are friend with that b***h Florence." The thrid said.

   I shrug. Florence told me he hate her because she refuse to date him.

   One of them walk over to me. He look at me from head to toe. He turn to look at his friends.

"It doesn't matter if she is friend with Florence." He said with a smirk.

  They laugh. And i don't like the sound of it.

"I think i should probably go. Have fun." I said and i begin to walk away but the boy standing next to me stop me by holding my wrist.

"Chill Laila. We are not going to harm you."

"I know but i have to go. I have things to do at home."

"You've got time to do that later." The one with a girl on his lap said.

"You are beautiful Laila. Do you know that?" The one holding said.

   I nod. "Yeah. My mom tell me every day." I said trying to pull my wrist out of his grip.

"Doesn't it makes you feel better hearing it from me?" He said close to my ear.

    I try to push him away. He move back a little but he didn't let go of my wrist.

"Leave her alone." Someone said behind me. The voice was threatening but I am so grateful when he let go of my wrist.

   I turn around to see Jason staring at me. He look at my wrist and back at my face. After some minute when i didn't move, he ask.

"What are you still waiting for?" He said coldly.

    I swallow hard. This is the first time i am staying so close to him and hearing him talk. He rarely talks. His minions do that for him. Even his best friend Christian do the same.

"Nothing. Thanks." I muttered.

   He look away and he threw his bag at the boy that held my wrist. He knew better than to let it fall. So he catch it.

   And I turn around and leave them.
