The boy at the next table
It was a hot summer day as Kate left her last class. As thirsty as one can be, she decided it was a good call going to the campus coffee lounge to get herself a super iced lemonade and chill until her shift at the library started. She wasn't dressed as she wanted for her first day at the job, courtesy of the extremely hot weather outside, but it was way too hot to walk 20 minutes to the dorm and get it changed anyway, so her outfit would have to do. She was wearing an airy knee-leght white dress, with a light blue cardigan and white matching sneakers. She grabbed her drink and headed towards the last couple of tables, since she knew no one usually seats there. Why? they are under the stairs and as it seems to her, everyone at her college is a social butterfly looking foward to meeting up with friends on all breaks from classes, always leaving those two secluded tables all to herself. At least until now.
She was sitting by herself, reading a new romance novel borrowed from the student's library and enjoying her new headphones listening to the new Bruno Mars playlist she made with her best friend Marco. Kate and Marco were best friends since the beginning of times, always taking the same classes, going out together to the mall or bowling and even spending holidays at each others houses. It was so weird feeling alone after a lifetime of a super duper bonded friendship, she just couldn't explain how much. But she knew Marco felt the same by the amount of playlists he's been sending her to complete on spotify. Marco was always the worst when expressing feelings, but he would always compensate in a thoughtful movement, this time by these overdramatic and super criative sets of songs. She listening to the third song when she felt someone staring at her. At first, she chose to ignore so the person would eventually give up and go away, but after a few minutes it started to become awkward. If only she knew that moment would change her foverever and break her into million peaces eventually, she would never have looked into his eyes.
