Julian's POV
Sunlight comes through the crack in my curtains and makes a bright line on the ceiling. I lie on my back staring at it but I'm not really looking.
My mind is stuck on the weekend with Aurelia.. how she laughed in the garden how she looked sitting by the lake. I feel both happy and upset. Happy because she was here with me and I got to be close to her. Upset because I almost messed it all up.
I nearly pushed her too much again. We agreed this is a fake relationship no feelings involved. But every time I see her that line gets harder to see.
I want more. I need more. She’s my mate—I can feel the bond. But she doesn’t feel the same way. It’s painful. I shift around in bed and the sheets twist around my legs.
A loud knock hits the door and pulls me out of my thoughts.
