Amber's POV Watching Hawk, drop his braid, hearing that chilling howl. I realized how worried I was until he appeared out of the forest as Mato went out to stop the person from coming to the house. I let out the breath I must have been holding. I was surprised to see very little to happen as the man fell. It was like almost nothing happened. Then Mato takes Hawk's long sleeve shirt, leaving him in just the tank. He hand long arms muscled but not massive. You could see their definition, his long black silky looking hair giving him a mysterious appearance. It made my breath catch, and my chest tighten. Scooping me into his arms, I felt his warmth and tingles race the area that he was touching. His hair was soft against my arm, while his brown eyes encircled by his black lashes mesmerized me. I felt my cheeks heat, and couldn't seem to loose the feeling of my stomach dancing. He gently placed me in my normal spot. I seen another placement right next to me. Mato I noticed, offered him that place. I watched as he gracefully sat down. I was a little in awe that he barely touched the guy and he fell. Mato seemed to have decided he was better to guard me. Which I told my self meant he trusted him. "Ooo," the cooks voice broke into my thoughts. "I have made something new tonight Amber please let me know what you think." The cooks voice happy and light. He set a plate of what looked like noodles and vegetables along with some white sauce and what appeared to be a flat steak. I seen, plates of the same laid all around. Picking up my fork, I speared some noodles and a bite of broccoli. Putting it to my lips it felt like heaven. I closed my eyes and sighed. I liked this taste very much. Watching the others grab a knife and slice through the meat. I tried to the same. As I went to cut it, I brought the knife to close to my finger and its sharp edge cut my finger. "Ouch," I sucked in a breath, dropping the knife and putting my finger in my mouth. "Oh what happened?" Hawk's voice wrapped around me like a blanket. "I cut maaselff." I said with my finger still in my mouth. Dropping my head in embarrassment. "Let me see," I heard him say gently as he slowly wrapped a hand around my wrist and pulled my finger from my mouth. He leaned closer to me. Horse and leather, seeped into my body keeping me calm as I felt his breath tickle my hand. I looked up to see him intently inspect my wound. Seeing it wasn't a major one he turned my hand a bit and kissed the palm of it. "It will be ok." He smiled. Inching closer he grabbed the fork and knife and made quick work of the steak. I felt a blush heat across my face with lightening speed. "Thank you," kept my eyes down cast. "Of course Ma Cháñte," I heard his voice say as I felt him pull away. He lightly brushed my hand as he went back to his own plate. I watched people chat about things and watched the couples lost in the eyes of their love. I didn't realize that plates were being cleared. "What did you think of steak stroganoff?" I heard the cook's bubbly voice ask. "I loved it." I looked up at him and grinned. "Anything you didn't like?" he questioned to be sure. "Nope," I smiled up at him. "Everything was yummy." I felt like a little kid. "Excellent!" The cook smiled and turned back to the kitchen. I glanced over towards Hawk to see him in a quiet discussion with Mato. I sat back in my chair to look at everyone dispersing. I looked around no one was close and I did not want to disturb Mato and Hawk's conversation. "Ma Cháñte, what is it?" I heard Hawk say behind me. I turned back to to see he had leaned my way slightly and concern. "Can you take me back to the porch?" I glanced down to my hands. "Of course," I heard him stand I leaned back in time as he scooped me up and his hair brushed lightly across my cheek making me giggle quietly. I caught a surprised expression as he looked up at me. "Your hair tickled my cheek." I broke eye contact to look back down. I felt his chest rumble, "That was the cutest sound I have heard in a long while," a chuckle escaping his own mouth. "You should do it more often." He added we walked toward the back door. "It feels weird," my whisper flew out before I could stop it. No idea why it flew out. I was normally really careful about my words. "Giggles like that should always be released." He paused on the porch. I looked at the woods from his height and it looked beautiful. "I am going to guess you like it out here because you spent to much time inside." I heard him say with a touch of sadness. I nodded, as he placed me back on the porch swing. "Thank you," I smiled at him. Hawk smiled back, standing he walked over to the porch stairs. Sitting down he proceeded to braid his hair quietly while he watched the forest. He threw his braid over his back when he was done and leaned back against the railing. I couldn't understand him. I seen the side eye that others in this pack gave him. I could see the nervousness Momma Dee gave him. Mato seemed the most at ease with him like me. I settled back and started watching people. Kids playing, people watching and mates cuddling. This was the part I loved. Watching people, live their moments, I didn't get to see this and TV never seemed real enough for me. My attention though would drift to Hawk, as he leaned back, his eyes closed and his hand folded in his lap. I couldn't seem to stop looking at him. I watched as his chest rose and fell slowly his muscles relaxed and his mouth relaxed and parted. I was watching Hawk rest, when I heard Momma Dee call my name from the doorway. "Amber do you mind if I check you bandages there?" My eyes found her at the door holding her medical bag. "Yes, yes of course." I smiled, glancing back at Hawk I seen him staring at me. I turned my attention at my lap while I felt Momma Dee settled next to my feet.
