The challenge buzzed around me, but my mind was elsewhere. As soon as we crossed the finish line, my gaze scanned the crowd, finding a brief gap in their attention. Without a second thought, I slipped away, blending into the shadows along the edge of the field and breaking free from the excited cheers of Alpha team.
Moving toward the quieter, empty pathways of the academy, I focused, stretching out my thoughts in search of a familiar presence.
