NOAH The walk back to the barracks felt longer than usual, each step weighed down by the plan I had to set into motion. The humans were planning to capture one of us—one of my pack. The idea made my blood boil, but I had to stay calm, had to strategize. If I acted too soon or too recklessly, everything would unravel. The academy would be the least of my concerns. I tried to piece together a plan. First, I needed more information. The meeting I’d overheard was just the beginning, and if I could eavesdrop on the briefing the commanders had mentioned, I might be able to figure out when and how they planned to make their move.
