I woke up with a pleasant weight on my chest. I remembered that Carolina was there with me in what appeared to be the castle’s guest room of sorts. She could not even remember that she was like this when we first met.
It made me happy that she seemed to be at ease with me no matter what time and place we were in. Both times she came to me when I was practically a stranger, but she felt protected. This time, though, I would be protecting two people: Carolina and our child.
She was not like this with just everyone else, as I got to understand the relationships she had in Queenspell. Everyone thought Xavier was her lover, and he might have become one – but when the two of them were given options, they saw themselves for who they were to each other. Friends.
