"Tell me, what's being so hard for you?" I asked in a soft but interested voice.
Alistair answered, "I'm not angry," with a blank look on his face. "Make sure you get some rest," she said, then turned and walked away from me without looking back.
I didn't understand why he was so cold. "Are you leaving already?" I yelled, and I couldn't hide the shock in my voice. Did he really come all this way just to kiss me and then leave?
He answered in his usual cold way, "I'm going back to the Devere family mansion." He didn't stop or turn around. Do not forget the job I gave you. "Make sure it's done," he said, leaving the house with his secretary close behind. His words were as sharp as ice.
I stood there and thought about what had happened, trying to figure out what it all meant. What was making him mad? Why did he look so far away? It didn't matter how much I thought about it; I couldn't figure out why. It wasn't helpful to think about it any longer.
Today, I won more important things. Emperor Entertainment had finally gone out of business after giving me a lot of grief. It felt so good to be free, and I could sleep well for the first time in a long time. Tomorrow would be another busy day because I would have to deal with the fallout and face the jerks who had caused me so much pain.

As the night went on, a light rain started to fall, covering the hills in a mist. After it rained, the view looked like something from another world. The homes on the hills looked like shadowy figures covered in fog. Theodore Valmont liked this kind of atmosphere because it was calm but full of secret excitement.
The sitting room, where Theodore liked to hang out, was his safe place. It gave him an overwhelming feeling of luxury and excitement, and the mirrors and glass on the floor and ceiling made it impossible for him to say no. Theodore and Margaux sat on the soft sofa after a long shower. The air between them was thick with excitement like they both had it.
As she spoke, Margaux leaned against Theodore and used a soft voice that was alluring. "They said they would get engaged soon, but since Emperor Entertainment went out of business, they won't be able to do what we asked of them." Theodore, you told me that this wouldn't hurt my image. You just told Seraphina you're no longer interested yesterday. How are we going to tell everyone about ours now?"
Theodore reassured Margaux as he ran his fingers along her smooth face in small patterns. "Do not worry." I'm going to meet Seraphina tomorrow. I'll make her a deal that will get her to work with me.
Margaux looked up at him with eyes that were bright with desire. "Don't break your promise." And if you can, make sure that people hate her even more. “I don't want them to pay any attention when we finally make our deal.”
Theodore's grin got bigger. "I've already ripped Seraphina's life apart in ways that would break anyone just to be with you." Already, don't you trust me? I can bring her here tomorrow if you want to see how helpless she is.
Margaux smiled, but her voice stayed calm. "I don't mean to hurt her." This is just for us—for the future.
Theodore laughed in a dark way and pulled her closer. "Do whatever you want to hurt her. I will make sure we don't have any problems. In an instant, he turned off the table lamp, leaving the room completely dark.
Did you hurt her? Did he believe he was allowed to say that? Did he ask Alistair first?

That night, I fell asleep quickly and soundly. I'm not sure if it was the calm I felt from my recent win or the faint smell of Alistair on the bed that put me to sleep. Even though the house had many rooms where I could have been away from him, I was in the master bedroom, wrapped in one of his shirts like it was nothing out of the ordinary.
Part of me wondered what game I was playing with myself when I pushed Alistair's limits. But another part of me knew I had to keep my heart very safe. I couldn't let myself be careless. Even though things were getting worse between us, I wasn't easily broken.
I was going to sleep in and enjoy my win over Emperor Entertainment a little longer before taking care of the rest of the mess. When my phone rang early in the morning, it woke me up from my cozy bed. One of the best talent companies, Zhen Yang Media, called me out of the blue. Their agent talked to me in a frantic way, offering me a good job and promising to fix my bad image. It almost seemed too good to be true.
But something about the name "Zhen Yang Media" seemed familiar, so I called Sebas right away to find out what he thought. When I told him about the business, he laughed, which was a surprise that made me feel cold.
"Do you mean it?" Sebas asked, with a funny tone in his voice. "The company run by Theodore Valmont wants to hire you. Who is the man who ruined your career?"
