The Chance

                     (ALEX'S POV) 

It was early morning house as I got up and headed into the kitchen to help make food for the pack as everyone finishes up morning training, at long last it has been almost 5 years since our daughter went missing, not exactly sure where she went but we've never stopped looking for her, this year will be her 18th birthday and we always swore if we couldn't find her by the time, she gained her wolf we would stop looking for her and stop hurting ourselves in the process. I shuffled my feet making my body move with every step, I used to be happy in the mornings but with weeks away from our lost daughter's 18th birthday I feel like I'm more mourning the morning anymore. I struggle to find happiness these days...  

    "Oh, hello Luna, I didn't expect you today..." I heard a faint voice say coming into my view,      

Quickly I was shaken from my thoughts, as an omega walked out from the kitchen holding plates.  

    "Lacey, I was just on my way to help with breakfast, who are those plates for?" I asked questioning her.  

       "Oh, um... this is awkward, Alpha James asked we bring you breakfast in bed this morning..." Her words trailed off as if she didn't want to be yelled at. Why would James ask for me to have breakfast in bed, unless? No, I'm not missing an important date, I was deep in thought about what could be his reasoning when Lacey interrupted my thoughts.  

"Luna I'm sorry but these plates are getting kind of heavy..." Lacey said with a crack in her voice and I was snapped back to reality  

"Oh my gosh yes! I spaced I'm very sorry Lacey" I responded quickly being snapped back surprised that she was still standing there holding 3 different plates and a cup of coffee,  

“I was just trying to figure out why he wanted me to stay in bed today...” I said while taking a pate and my cup of coffee No doubt was this all for a reason but for what reason could it be? Deep in thought again I walked into the kitchen and put the plate and coffee down on the island, I looked at the food in awe as he remember, what I liked in the mornings, we’ve been together a while but when it came to making me feel better James always knew food was the way to my heart.  

“Luna Alex” A voice from behind me called out, I knew all too well who it was and really did not want to deal with anything this early in the morning. I turned around anyways, trying to ignore it only made it worse to deal with,  

“Yes, Beta Jen?” I asked turning around in my spot, legs crossed and coffee up to my mouth, but just as I was about to take a drink the words, I thought I would never hear left her mouth.  

“We have a lead” Beta Jen said with a little too much excitement in her voice showing that it is possible, that they may have something more than a dead end. I spit my coffee all over the floor and immediately after I started chocking as an omega came to clean up the mess and hand me a paper towel.  

“A little more f*****g warning Jen” I mustered out while still chocking on the coffee, once I finally caught my breath and sent all the omegas back to their duties which I doubt they will be able to focus on as I started chocking in the middle of the kitchen.  

“What do you mean we have a lead, Jen? It's been months will no new intel, nothing worth checking out anyways” I said lowly even though I knew everyone could hear me, everyone knew what happened to our daughter, we warned all the parents.  

“It’s been months yes, but this looks promising.” She smiled happily while still chuckling at the fact that she made me chock on coffee. 

“Please, let's take this to my office, shall we?” I answered and gestured to the door as she rolled her eyes and walked ahead. I grabbed my coffee and took a bite of my food, as I started walking towards the door, I heard one of the omegas behind me chatting with one of her friends. I stopped for a second and turned around, everyone looked at me like I was going to do something, instead I walked over and grabbed my plate of food. Glared at her and started for the door again, I stopped, everyone’s eyes still on me.  

“Lacey, thank you for preparing my food this morning, I'll make sure to let Alpha James know it was you.” I glanced at her and she smiled, I shifted my gaze to the omega beside her. 

“Jan, you on the other hand should learn your place, it is in the kitchen and I am the Luna, I will not be disrespected while I can still hear you. I understand that not everyone in this pack likes me, but they at least know their place, I do not want to have to teach you a lesson and send you to training as punishment.” I said with a voice full of anger it was almost calm, Jan’s face was red and she looked ready to cry, “I have never disrespected you, but you gave me no choice, now if you’ll excuse me, I have more pressing matters to attend to.” I said again in a calm and rational voice before turning my heal and heading to the door I quickly made my way up the steps, the 7 flights of steps, I was used to doing this when something was wrong but I never did it out of pure excitement, you’d think I would be used to doing this but running was something I hadn’t done in quite a while.  

“God, you made it, Are you okay?” Jen asked as I opened the door.  

“No, Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant.... Oh s**t!” I said as I finally realized why I’m supposed to be in bed.  

“Alex you can be so stupid sometimes, quickly back to bed before he comes back!” Jen said as she came to assist me, I got to the door when it hit me, I stopped dead in my tracks.  

“s**t” I muffled out.  

“Alex, what are you—never mind" Jen said as she opened the door.  

They're stood James, my loving husband and mate, arms crossed, eyes black with anger, huffing and puffing, if I was the pigs my house would have been blown down.  James just stared at me, like I was some child. He looked at me for a few second and opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out, he closed it again and shook his head, paused for another moment and went to speak again, but nothing came out, he shook his head and this went on for a few more seconds until he finally could muster up something to say.  

“Sometimes Alex, sometimes.” He grunted as he picked me up bridal style and carried me back to bed.  

“I forgot!” I tried to defend myself but was met with a look, the look that meant shut it.  

“Don’t you dare look at me like that James! You may be alpha but I will always be the Luna, you will not make me submit.” I sneered at him as he put me gently down on the bed, if you couldn’t feel the anger, you would think it was nice.  

“You can be so f*****g forgetful, I just never thought you would forget your 9 months pregnant and on f*****g bedrest!” James snarled at me. He was having a bad morning and I could tell; I don’t know how I forgot either honestly.  

“James I’m sorry okay, I didn’t get much sleep and figured I'd help the omegas with breakfast” I managed to get out before he stormed into the bathroom and slammed the door, followed by him opening it again.  

“Alex, you are the Luna, yes. But you being forgetful is what’s going to get you hurt, Bedrest.” James shouted at me as he was walking to give me a kiss, he walked away swiftly and slammed the door again.  

Well I might as well mind link Jen and tell her I'll be handling this from inside my room from now on.  

Quickly I mind linked Jen and she came in with paperwork, as well as my breakfast that was left in my office.  

“What did you do just wait there?” I chuckled at her carrying everything.  

“Well, I wasn’t following you in here” She laughed  

“Okay so seriousness, what did you find?” I asked with a questionable tone and before I knew it, I was being handed paper after paper, she was stringing them on the wall and explained each one as she strung them up to show me a better understanding.  

“This was from 2 years ago when we searched mark moon for her--” Jen said 

“Yeah, I remember, we found nothing.” I answered getting impatient as she was going through these.  

“I know all of this please get to the good news” I said with clear annoyance in my voice.  

“Hey, calm down before I pack everything up and leave. I'm almost there.” Jen answered as she picked up more papers stifling through them to find the pieces and putting them together.  

“It’s a f*****g puzzle...”  I gasped out as she put everything together,  

“Yes, and there's one piece missing, I don’t believe they stole your daughter, But I believe she’s there.” She said pointing to one place on the map we never checked. They were allies, but barley anyone had known what happened, and they rarely saw Bella, how would they know what she looked like? I managed to think all of this through before I felt a splash between my legs just as I took the last bite of food  

“Oh shit...” We said in unison. Mine was more of pure shock and barley hearable as I was shoving food in my mouth. Jens was of complete joy as she had already mind linked her mate and the Gamma and her mate, everyone came rushing into the room as I was mind linking my parents. And just as the bedroom door opened, so did the bathroom door.  

“What the f**k is going on here” James asked as he looked around.  

“Well, good news, you're going to be a dad...” I said sheepishly.  

He looked down at everyone and then down at me and then at himself, it finally clicked. He was wearing nothing but a towel and ran to the closet, he grabbed the bay and mind linked the doctor at the pack hospital he stood me up and walked beside me, Jen on my other side. I reached the elevators just as my parents did and James quickly told them to get in as we headed to the hospital. It wasn’t far, maybe a 5-minute walk from the elevator.  

Once the doors opened a contraction hit me, My first one. I started to feel undeniable pain as I walked through the doors of the elevators as everyone else was rushing down the steps, my mom was trying to talk me through it, telling me to just breathe, What the f**k kind of s**t is that, ‘Just breath’ that’s so f*****g stupid. Why would I stop breathing?  

“We are almost there, okay?” James said in a sweet tone, like he didn’t just want to kill me 20 minutes ago 

“I can see I'm not blind, and don’t act like you're not still mad at me.” I sneered.  

“Will you just shut up and let me take care of you” He asked, not in the form of a question but more of a demand. He hated it when I brought our personal stuff up in front of everyone.  

“Fine, but I will be talking about this later, After I have the baby.” I said as I looked into his eyes.  

We finally reached the hospital and this pain was like none I've ever felt before, after hours of labor and many painful memories I think my husband will hate me for, I finally had him.  

“ITS A BOY” James ran into the hallway screaming as I cradled our son in the hospital room promising him, I would never leave him, or let him be taken.  

(JEN’S POV) 

We were all in a deep conversation in the waiting room of the hospital, where we have been all morning. We saw many nurses go in and out of the room and heard Alex screams of pain as we talked about what I had discovered.  

“So, what you're telling me is she may be there without any of even noticing?” Sam asked, He was my mate.  

“There’s no way, it's so close...” Tim answered almost as distraught he hadn’t thought about it first 

“Wait, there has to be way for us to know, what if we just called and asked? Carly asked  

“Are you stupid?” We all said in unison.  

“Well, that was a little rude don’t you think” she said slapping me and Tim.  

“We can’t just call and ask because if we do, we are giving them means to kill her, even if they aren’t the ones that took her.” I answered while everyone just gave her this look.  

“But they are allies, if they had her wouldn’t they just hand her over?” Carly asked again, she was new so no one really understood why her questions didn’t make sense to her.  

“Baby?” Tim said as he took her hand in his. 

“Yes?” Carly asked  

“Please just listen, no more talking, okay?” Tim answered, quickly followed by getting smacked upside the head. Carly was turned a couple months ago, she was human when Tim found her, she is his destined mate, which isn’t usual for the supernatural to be paired with a human, just none of them understood we actually existed. Carly is trying her best to get caught up in everything. Since being the Gammas mate her job was a little harder, not harder than mine but they took care of all the financial stuff but also wars and battles when needed, that was Carlys favorite part. She was a strong woman so when she turned it was like being a strong wolf time’s five when it came to her.  

“ITS A BOY” we heard behind us, obviously we all forgot that Alex was giving birth  

“What?” We all asked confused and then it clicked in all of our heads at once.  

“ITS A BOY” we all yelled and jumped up and down. Quickly realizing and running towards James engulfing him in a hug  

“Okay guys I got to get back to Alex before she kills me but Jen?” He said and I looked at him as he broke off the hug.  

“Do what you think is right, if my daughter is there, I want her found. Now.” He said with anger in his voice but his body calm, that was all I needed to move out. I already had a plan; I just needed the approval. I mind linked James while Alex was resting in between contractions and told him everything as I was explaining it to everyone else. I went over my plan with him but before I got the okay there was a block, I was guessing Alex was pushing.  

I gathered everyone to James's office and explained everything that was going to happen, when and how. After I was done the room was silent, you could hear a pin drop... 

“Well?” I asked waiting for someone to answer me 

“Okay.” Sam said in a shockingly low voice 

“What?” I asked confused 

“Okay, your plan is great, but what if something happens while you are there?” Sam insinuated  

“Sam I will be fine, as far as anyone knows I'm just visiting Carson” I insisted,  

“Okay, then you leave in the morning, Call Carson and let him know you're coming, I will figure out how to handle things here.”  Sam said walking over to me and grabbing my shoulders  

“But... you call me if anyone even looks at you wrong, and you come home to me, safe and sound. Understood” Sam said as he looked at me with his cool blue eyes.  

“Understood” I said and wrapped my arms around his waist and pulling him into a hug.  

The next hours passed as we all took turns seeing Alex’s baby. She mind linked me and asked me to come as soon as possible.  

“Hey little bro” I said as soon as the other line answered as I was walking to the hospital 

“Hey, stop calling me that” He answered,  

“Oh, you love it, what are you up to this weekend?” I asked almost laughing like a school girl.  

“Nothing really, why?” He answered almost like he didn’t want to.  

“Do you mind if I come for a visit?” I asked sheepishly  

“Is everything okay? You sound almost anxious” he asked getting a little snappy  

“Sam and I just need a break from each other honestly and I could really use some bonding time with you...” I answered getting flustered.  

“Oh, then yeah, if you really need the break I don’t mind, I'm sure no one else will either, well expect the new girl. She's a little skittish.” Carson answered weary of my question at hand 

“What do you mean by new girl? And why is she skittish?” I asked confused and dumbfounded 

“This girl landed in our pack a couple weeks back, just walked across the border, she said she was trying to find her family and that they lived close but no one knows of anyone missing not as of lately anyways” Carson answered almost stupidly might I add 

“Carson, what does she look like?” I asked with extreme importance in my voice 

“Uh, I don’t f*****g know Jen, Blonde hair, light teal eyes. Small like she's been starved, scars all over her body, I don’t really remember all that much, she’s in the pack hospital with a broken leg and arm. She’s a wolf but she’s not healing right, I don’t even think she’s 18 yet.” Carson answered scattering his brain trying to think of what she looked like.  

“Carson, Alex and James daughter went missing almost 5 years ago. Whatever you do don’t let her leave. I’ll be on my way tonight” I answered barley raising my voice, I knew this was important to Alex and James, but I needed to see if it was them. I was nearing the hospital door when I heard a loud growl that shook the hospital.  

I quickly hung up the phone waiting before getting a response from Carson, in any case he heard it through the phone and knew I needed to go.  

I rushed into the hospital trying to mind link Alex or James and wasn’t getting anything. I mind linked Sam, Tim and Carly and just as I did, they ran up behind me like they knew something was wrong. I ran towards the door with everything in my body screaming run, I was met face to face with someone I thought I'd never see again. Luka.  

(LUKA’S POV) 

I was wondering through the wood, struggling to walk. Until I was met face to face with a wolf. I collapsed to the ground from exhaustion and dehydration.  

I awoke in the hospital; I'm guessing a pack hospital since I was on wolf grounds. I was trying to make my way back home. I got up and no one was around, I was confused so I walked down the hall looking for anyone to help me figure out where I am. I opened a door and found myself face to face with Alpha James. Before I knew it, he growled in my face and shifted into his wolf, I had to give it to him, His wolf was a pretty gray color almost as if a white but just a bit darker with Dark blue eyes. I may be delirious but my dumbass went to pet it. Like that was going to work at all, he snapped at me. I could tell I wasn’t welcome so I started backing away but before I could run, I saw her. The one person I vowed I'd never see again. Jen. I faded back into unconsciousness and nightmares of the last 3 years hit over and over again. I awoke to find a nurse and Jen in my room, she seemed to be mind linking someone, her eyes were clouded over as they started to uncloud I could see her staring at me and open her mouth like she was going to say something. She closed her mouth and stormed out of the room; she came back with Sam gripping him by his shirt.  

“This is your problem not mine!” She yelled as she shoved him in the room and slammed the door.  

“What’s her problem?” I asked and laughed but slowly left it trail off after I met Sam’s gaze and his eyes were black with anger, He calmed himself down and looked at me.  

“Luka what the hell?” He asked but I wasn’t sure what he meant 

“What do you mean Sam?” I asked confused honestly 

“Do not play coy with me dumbass!” He yelled and hit my arm.  

“What the f**k dude?” I asked confused my voice slightly raised so he knew I wasn’t lying 

“You don’t remember do you?” Sam asked me cautiously 

“I remember the last three years, being held captive and beaten. But no, I do not remember anything that has to do with Jen other than not taking her with me when I left.” I responded giving the honest and brutal truth.  

“You were held captive?” Same asked with confusion in his voice and eye brows raised, man my brother really was an i***t. Thinking I would lie about something like that.  

“Yeah, you i***t. For three years!” I yelled at him, getting him to realize what this meant.  

“You are a f*****g i***t! You got yourself captured for her? Are you f*****g serious?” Sam yelled at me his eyes full of anger once again.  

“I helped her escape Sam...” I said trying to justify my actions. Even out of context everyone knew what this meant.  

“Shes alive?! Where is she!?” He yelled in my face 

“Calm down, I helped her escape and left her at the boarder of Black moon.” I answered standing up and pushing him off of me at the same time 

“Why didn’t you bring her with you?!” He yelled in my face again and let out a low growl, I knew he was close to shifting.  

“She was tired and cold Sam, I knew she couldn’t make the walk like I could, I’m sorry but it was either leave her there or have her die here.” I answered now growling at him.  

“You could have stayed with her, that is your home!” Sam snapped at me.  

“ENOUGH” We both immediately submitted and put our heads down without moving.  

“I will not have you two fighting in our hospital! Take it outside!” James yelled at us in his Alpha voice. 

“James, He found your daughter...” Sam said as he looked up at James.  

“Luka, is this true?” James asked.  

I kept my head down, frozen. No one made me submit in a long ass time but James was not the Alpha to piss off and even I knew this. His wolf tried to eat me.  

“Yes sir.” I answered without lifting my head.  

“Where is she” He sneered at me. Gritting his teeth at me.  

“Black moon.” I answered finally lifting my head meeting his gaze only to be slammed into the wall.  

“What is she doing at Black moon!” He yelled walking towards me.  

“I left her at the boarder” I answered basically tail between my legs.  

“James, Carson told me a girl showed up a few weeks ago, said she’d been looking for her family, but no one knew of any kidnappings in a few years, and because it's been five since she disappeared. “ Jen came rushing in when she heard the loud thump of my body hitting the wall.  

“You are lucky she is alive Luka; she better not be dead.” James said gritting his teeth at me.  

“Jen, Take Luka to black moon with you. Tonight.” James said as he walked out the door.  

“Yes Sir.” Jen answered and then glared at me.  

“Sam, get Luka some clothes. We leave in ten. And Luka, it’s going to be a fun night.”  

“Sam don’t make me go alone...” I asked my older brother like a child. Like a puppy whimpering.  

“Sorry little bro. I got work here, she has work there.” Sam said with a grin on his face, was he trying to get me killed?!
