Chapter Twenty-FourRico stayed with Jean until she fell asleep. Then he headed to the North side to attend to another “piece of business” for Forester he had put on hold when Jean was attacked. He had promised him he'd take care of it tonight. Forester liked and respected Rico. He was dependable, efficient and, when necessary, discreet, all qualities Forester had in mind when he pressed so hard to convince Rico to eliminate Sandra. Obviously, though, he could also be stubborn. Once he accepted a job, he got it done, but he did it his way or not at all. Forester wasn't bothered by that streak of independence, because the job always got done and that was what was important. It didn't hurt that Rico's way invariably turned out to be the right way.
