Chapter Twenty-FiveThe heartburn that had plagued Forester since the night before, despite the numerous antacids he'd taken, seemed to be getting worse. He had a burning, painful sensation in his chest together with nausea and flatulence. He rose from the chair in the library from which he'd called Rico and walked around his expansive house, trying to take deep breaths but mostly not succeeding. Diane heard him wandering about the house and came downstairs to see if anything was wrong. He was not usually awake so early on a Saturday morning. She found him in the library lying on a leather couch. The heartburn continued, accompanied by a profound tightness in the chest, and he had started to sweat profusely. His skin had turned pale and clammy and he was breathing rapidly. Diane shuddered
