CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE Georgie pulled up the driveway. Smacked by the prospect of rattling around alone in the empty house, her mood flat-lined. She ought to go to Kendra’s. She’d phoned, but needed to rally around and offer love and help in person. It would be heartbreaking though. ‘Tomorrow. I’ll go tomorrow.’ She went to the back door ready to slip her key in, but found it unlocked. Her spirits rose – someone was home. And even better, when she came into the kitchen, Kat wrapped her in a bearhug. ‘I’m such a derp.’ Kat smiled widely. She dragged her jacket off the back of a chair and shrugged into it, then dove into a pocket. ‘I don’t need this.’ She wiggled a paper bag. ‘Won’t for ages. Maybe you will before me.’ She handed over a light package as her happiness flickered. ‘How’s Sam?’
