Chapter 12

(Regina's POV) 

Sitting there watching her best friend break like this was something she never wanted to see Mary was always so bubbly and sweet and loved her family and now she seems she has been holding this secret all these years and now something must have happened for her to reveal such a big secret to her best friend something she had prob never intended anyone to find out but how could this be "Mary what do you mean?" "God I know I should have told her sooner but what was the need? I know its selfish but I don't want Emma to think of me any different than her mom" she cried "dear she wouldn't think any different come on tell me" Mary just cried and held onto Regina's arm "before Emma was born David was married before and I'm not proud to say this but we had an affair and believe me I know I sound like some common home wrecker but it's not like that at all you have to believe that it's not what I'm like and I love David so much it makes it worth it" "I don't understand dear" Regina looked at her so confused "Well Davids wife had an affair too long before we did and they're marriage was over they just didn't want to make it work anymore but then she fell pregnant and David wanted to do the right thing and I understood that and so they lived as they could and then one day it just got too much and they fought and Marie stormed out of the house and got in her car and left David they didn't love each other anymore and that day will always be in Davids mind he can never forget losing his daughter and wife in one day months had passed and David couldn't find them until one day he got a phone call from Marie she she..." Mary broke down again tears streaming down her cheeks "its ok dear I'm here just breath" Regina rubbed the back of her hand with her thumb "im ok it's just so hard she called David to say she had gone to the doctor and she found out she had cancer this broke David he didn't know what to do after talking she finally agreed to meet David she had her daughter and she was so small so weak when she was born so David looked after them both he tried so hard to be strong and help her he took her back to his house and within a month she died the cancer took over" sniffling with tears in her eyes now too Regina moved around her best friends shoulder as much as she could without hurting her arms "shhh shhh come on now shh I'm here" "thank you Regina David called me he didn't know how to take care of a baby on his own he was trying so hard but eventually called me and asked me to meet up and told me all that had happened I couldn't believe it this poor man and his beautiful babygirl all alone so I helped and took care of them both after a month David needed to go back to work so I took care of the baby Marie had named her Emma but never got to get her christened so together we decided to and named her Emma Marie Nolan I took her as my own daughter and helped David raise her with so much hurt in his heart he couldnt face telling Emma I wasn't her mum well her biological mum anyways so we just kept it to ourselves who were we hurting right? And now... Now she need a blood transfusion but you see Emma has a rare blood type and the doctor said it could be one of the parents that would be a match what if... What if David is not oh god Regina how can I do this I can't lose her" sobbing now Mary just held on to her best friend "Hey hey of course David will be a match and I'm sure everything will be fine Emma will be fine but I still think that no matter what you should tell her it's not fair to keep this from her she should know and you should be the one to tell her I know she will still love you the same she may get angry that you didn't tell her but I'm sure she will eventually understand" " you're right you are right I'm sorry reg I should've told her sooner I'm going to tell her I just need time god I hope David is a match because if he's not I don't know what we will do" "look honey if he's not I'm sure they will get a match" "but that's the thing her blood is so rare it will be hard to find a match for her" "Ok ok maybe if he's not then look il il do it il get tested maybe we could be a match mines pretty rare too" "you you would do that?" (Later that night) 

Mary and David were waiting in Emma's room by her bed waiting on the blood test results the doctor walked in "Mr and Mrs Nolan i have the rest results and I'm so sorry but neither of you are a match for Emma" "oh god David what are we going to do?" "I I can't believe it no no i refuse I can't do this I can't lose her" David shouts leaving the room "DAVID" Mary calls after him "I'm so sorry Mrs Nolan we are doing everything we can" "oh yes of course we know that but I'm just wondering my dear friend is also in this hospital she said she would like to be tested would that be possible even tho she is a patient? Well not usually but in these circumstances I'm sure I can do that" "oh thank you so much" "sure now what's your friends name?" "Oh yes Regina Mills" smiling "oh the mayor ok yes sure il send a nurse to her room right away" the doctor leaves.

(Reginas room)

God she hopes Emma would be ok she was too young to die she couldn't watch her best friend go through that to lose her daughter she would lose herself she knew how much Mary loves her daughter she was pulled from her thoughts as the nurse walked in "hi I'm nurse Paige I'm here to take your bloods" Regina then looked and couldn't believe what she was seeing right in front of her that crazy b***h from the bar the night she met Emma "you" the girl looked at Regina then it hit her "oh it's you"
