I don't know why I reacted like that earlier. I already anticipated her presence at the ball. When I first recognized her, I should have shot her right away, but what the heck?
I shook my head before deciding to stand up and leave the suite. To help me fall asleep and to calm my anger, I intended to have more shots. I rode an elevator and went to the bar area.
As opposed to other loud bars, this one welcomed me with soft music as soon as I entered. The local lighting is also just right—dim and uncolored. I made my way over to the bar counter and sat down. When a bunch of girls immediately surrounded me on all sides, my jaw tensed up.
"Do you need a companion?" the girl to my left asked and patted my arm; if my suspicions are correct, she is the leader of their group.
I slowly moved my head in her direction and stared into her eyes. "Remove your hand," I responded coldly, with an evident warning in my voice.
Fear overtook her expression instantly, draining the color from her face. I sensed the subtle quiver in her hand as she delicately withdrew it from mine. Even the movement of her swallowing was not unnoticed by me.
"Get lost, la puttana," I stated.
She quickly nodded to her companions, and they left together. I just shook my head and took a deep breath before looking at my arm. I feel disgusted—not because they tried to flirt with me, but because someone touched me.
I no longer had the urge to drink, so I simply went outside to light a cigarette. I was leaning against the wall, and on my third puff, I noticed a noise coming from somewhere.
"Don't touch me!" came from a woman.
It seems like she's in trouble. I didn't even bother to look at the source of the noise, even though I knew where it was coming from. I just continued puffing my cigarette.
Why would I bother to interfere if it's none of my business?
"Don't you know who I am? I'll put you in jail!" the girl shouted this time.
I found myself unable to suppress a smirk as I took a drag on my cigarette.
Stupida.
If everyone was afraid of going to jail, there would be no crime today. No syndicates, no mafia, no corruption. Perfect world.
I finished my cigarette and was about to enter the hotel again, but I stopped midway when I heard her next statement.
"I am Irrah Potacah Zircon! Don't you know me? Daddy's going to put you all in prison!"
That's when I finally turned in their direction. She was putting up a fight against four big men. Her hair was a mess from struggling to break free from their grip. She seems to be drunk.
I don't know why those men are trying to get her. Is it for her body? Or do they just really want to kidnap her? But either of the two, they can't.
She's mine. Only I should punish her. I'm the only one who should hurt her. Kill her.
She tried to struggle again, but this time she couldn't do anything when a man punched her in the stomach. She quickly weakened and almost passed out.
My teeth clenched involuntarily as I began to stride towards her. Instantly, our gazes locked, even though she was clearly intoxicated.
"Help me, please..." she mouthed.
Why would I?
Due to my sudden arrival, the men immediately put up their defense. They gave me a threatening look. That almost caused me to smirk.
"Don't get involved if you want to b—"
I swiftly pulled the gun from behind my back and shot the man in the head, stopping him in mid-sentence. His other colleagues were alerted and were about to pull out their respective guns, but before they could do that, they all fell to the floor. Dead and bathing in their own blood.
Ahuh? Who's the one alive now?
I stood in front of the corpses and then looked at the woman, who was also lying on the ground. She had lost all of her strength and couldn't even stand. I bent my knees to match her level. Without emotion, I pointed the gun towards her forehead.
"Where's the crest?" I asked coldly.
She didn't answer right away. Her eyes just flashed as she tried to look at me. Her mouth slowly opened to speak.
"Thank you..." was her last words before she finally lost her consciousness.
My grip on my gun tightened as I stared at her. Even though three years have passed, the innocence still hasn't disappeared from her face. The reason why I got easily fooled by her.
I held my gun steady, focusing on her for a moment, as plans swirled in my mind. Despite my immediate desire to eliminate her, I couldn't act hastily. She alone possessed the knowledge of the crest's location, crucial for my mission back to Italy. Ultimately, I reluctantly holstered my gun and proceeded to carry her.
My jaw clenched the moment I had her in my arms. I could feel something unusual, which I couldn't name. It's not attraction; to hell with that.
It's something unfamiliar.
I took her to the hotel, to my suite. She was still unconscious even after I laid her on the bed. Perhaps drunkenness and weakness are also brought on.
Once again, I stared at her deceitful face. Nothing has changed, but . . . why is that? Something seems not to be right. Something seems to be missing.
I cleared my mind of any distracting thoughts and made my way to the nightstand. Taking a handcuff from the drawer, I approached her and securely fastened her to the bed.
For now, you are my prisoner, Irrah.
