A smirk plastered on my lips when I saw her trying to starve herself. She had her arms crossed and was seated on the bed. Not giving me a look.
I proceeded to the center table and took a short glance at her food. I felt her looking at my back and quickly avoided it when I turned to her. She had a furious look on her face and was definitely not pleased to be imprisoned in my home.
"If I were you, I would eat the food they prepared. Your efforts are pointless since I don't care whether you die from hunger." I slightly sat on the table and stared at her coldly.
Her mouth was hanging open, as if she couldn't believe the kind of person in front of her. It appeared as though I were a demon posing as a human.
"Are you really like that?" she said.
My brows arched slowly. "How do you expect me to threaten you? A princess?" I mocked.
She quickly got off the bed and went in front of me. "What exactly is my fault with you? Why are you doing this to me? And please! Stop me saying I know the reason why!" she blurted, her chest heaving in response.
I merely smirked before rising slowly and towering over her. "I ought to be the one to say that. Quit acting like a fool in front of me," I warned.
"Jeez! Why don't you just kill me?! After all, you won't get anything from me," she said boldly.
My side lip rose. "Don't worry; I'll do that. In the mean time, I'll let you live. Quick death is too convenient for you." I scoffed and glanced at the food again. "If you intend to starve yourself to death, let me know, so I won't be sending you food here."
Her jaw was clenched, and her eyes were averted. "I don't like the food," she said softly in a still stubborn tone.
I licked my lower lip and slowly brought my face near her ear. "It's not like you don't like the food, Irrah," I whispered. "It's because you can't eat it." I sensed how her body tensed up.
I stepped back and grinned evilly. "You're allergic to shrimp," I ended.
She's Irrah.
I am sure of it. She once informed me that she is allergic to it and hence avoids eating it. I just laughed in the back of my mind and silently appreciated the maids for preparing a seafood meal.
"How did you..." She couldn't continue what she was saying and just continued to stare at me.
Yes, Irrah. I finally caught you.
Later, she let out a small laugh. "You're investigating me, aren't you?" She shook her head in disbelief. "You know I'm allergic to shrimp, but this is what you sent me anyway. Wow! Just wow. You really want to kill me even though I didn't do anything bad to you."
I clenched my teeth and fisted my hand. "Quit acting, Irrah. You're now busted."
"You're the one who should stop! I didn't do anything bad to you for you to punish me like this." Her voice trembled, and the corners of her eyes started to tear up. "I wish... I wish you had just let me perish from those men. I wish you had not saved me from them."
She buckled down and started crying on her folded knees. "My whole life, there's only a limited amount of things I can do. There's only a limited amount of places I can go. When I got my freedom, this is what happened to me. Why are you all so cruel to me?"
I remained silent as I watched her outburst. I'm bewildered and a little bit irritated at the same time. She knows that I have caught her impersonation, so I don't understand why she continues to act.
"A-All I want is simple: be happy, be free, and do all the things I've never been able to do before. B-But why are you making me suffer like this?" she said between her sobs.
I let out a deep breath. I don't know her agenda or the reason behind her behavior. However, I am certain of one thing: She couldn't deceive me again.
"No matter what you say, you'll remain in my mansion until I kill you. Enough with your drama." I finally turned my back, leaving her alone in the room.
I went to my office and called the head cook of the mansion. I instructed him not to prepare any dishes containing shrimp for Irrah. Yes, I want her to die, but not that way.
I tiredly leaned back in my swivel chair when I was alone in the room. I don't know why what she said earlier came to mind over and over, even though I knew she was just fooling me. I finally came to my senses and grabbed the prepared wine from the edge of my desk before pouring it into the glass.
I took a sip and laid back again in my chair. Even though I haven't done anything today, my body feels very tired. I despised the idea that, earlier on, I was on the verge of believing her. She might have tricked me once more if I hadn't been sure she was the person I was looking for.
You're such a good actress, Irrah.
I just continued drinking when, later, someone knocked on my office door. I sat properly and put my glass on the desk.
"Come in," I commanded.
I saw the butler of the mansion peeping as she slowly opened the door. She was distressed and sweating profusely. When she proceeded to enter the room, my attention was drawn to her trembling knees as well.
"My L-Lord," she began.
"Talk, Clarita," I commanded, a little bit confused by her action.
"Y-Your guest. The one on the other side—"
Her words were cut off when I immediately interrupted, "What happened?" I eyed her darkly.
Don't let them tell me that girl got away. Son of a w***e!
"W-We don't know what happened. We just saw her lying on the floor a-and struggling to breathe," Clarita answered quickly.
"Fvck!" I cursed out in anger when a thought entered my mind.
I quickly stood up and made my way to the room where I left her. As soon as I entered the room, I found her lying on the floor, sweating, and having trouble breathing. My eyes quickly searched for the food on the table. I was shocked again to see that it was discounted.
"Call a doctor, now!" I instructed my people and went to Irrah.
Damn it! What the hell is she thinking? Fvckingsh*t!
