Chapter 23I drove like crazy all night. I had to, or I’d have turned around to go hunt for Carlos. The thing that kept me heading east was the gut knowledge he wouldn’t go through with it. He took that sign business seriously. So I kept my foot on the accelerator hard enough to earn a whole bunch of speeding tickets. But I didn’t even see a cop, much less collect a traffic fine.
