I wasn’t sure how exactly I had ended up in the courtyard, but I had allowed my feet to carry me to where they wanted to go, and this was where I found myself. I was standing just outside of the palace doors, staring up at the darkened sky. As usual, there were no stars. Not a single one. It was one thing that was different in regards to the Mainland—one of the things that I missed. I had often found myself outside, simply staring at the sky in order to make sense of what I was feeling and thinking.
