        “I’m not sure if it would be acceptable for you and I to do such a thing.” Maybe it wasn’t the best response to give him at a time like this, after he had gone through all of the effort of actually asking me if we could do something like that. But I didn’t want to give him the wrong impression. I wasn’t here to make amends with anyone, and I wasn’t about to allow him to be the first one. I knew better than that. With my luck, he would only end up throwing it back in my face, at some point or the other. That was the way that it was going to be from now on, and I needed to make sure that I didn’t forget that. It would only lead to my downfall if I did. And considering that I was hoping to avoid that until a much later stage, I needed to be considerate of such things.
