Blurb

They say empires are born from conquest. Not the clean kind — the violent kind. The kind that levels everything soft and calls the rubble progress. Steel poured over ash. Glass and stone fused under unbearable pressure until something new, something unbreakable, emerges. Sharp-edged. Unforgiving. Beautiful only because of what it destroyed to exist.Elena Reyes had always hated that kind of beauty. She was raised on legacy — a company built slowly, carefully, by her father’s hands. Something meant to serve, not devour. But legacies burn too. When Damien Voss set his sights on Reyes Innovations, he didn’t just take it. He broke it open, stripped it for parts, and dared her to watch. She came out of that fire obsidian.Hard enough to stand against him. Sharp enough to draw blood when he tried to force her into his mold. Dark enough that when people looked at her, they saw only what they feared or wanted: the defiant heiress, the inconvenient obstacle, the last ember refusing to die.She didn’t know yet that the man who shattered her world would be the first to truly see what lay beneath the sharp edges.Or that seeing her would fracture everything he had built his empire upon. This is not a story about rescue. It is a story about what remains when two forces forged in different fires collide. About whether anything shaped by that much heat and pressure can ever become more than the weapon it was made to be.Or whether, in the end, the only thing sharper than obsidian is the man willing to risk cutting himself on it.

Prologue
The boardroom on the forty-seventh floor of Voss Tower smelled of polished mahogany and impending ruin. Elena Reyes stood at the head of the long table, heart hammering, as Damien Voss dismantled her family’s company in under twenty minutes. The self-made billionaire leaned back in his chair like he owned the world—which he now essentially did. His storm-cloud gray eyes swept the room with cold precision. “Effective immediately,” his deep voice declared, “Reyes Innovations will be fully integrated into Voss Tech. Redundant departments will be streamlined. Non-essential personnel will receive severance within thirty days.” Elena felt the words like a blow. Her father had built this company from their garage. She had sacrificed everything to keep it alive after his death. And this man spoke of its destruction as mere procedure. She stepped forward. “Mr. Voss. You’re making a mistake.” His gaze snapped to her. “Am I?” She slid her binder across the table. “Our AI sustainability platform is years ahead. Gutting R&D will cost you more than it saves. These numbers prove it.” Damien didn’t open the binder. “Passion is admirable, Ms. Reyes. But passion doesn’t survive in my world. Only results do.” “Then give me sixty days,” she said. “As your advisor. I’ll prove the value of my team. If I can’t, dismantle us.” The room fell silent. Damien studied her, expression unreadable. “Sixty days,” he repeated. “Working directly under me. Full cooperation. No interference.” Elena thought of her team, her family’s legacy, her little sister waiting at home. She nodded. Damien rose, towering and imposing. “Very well. But understand this: I don’t play nice. And I always get what I want.” Their eyes locked, the air thick with mutual hostility. Elena smiled tightly. “So do I, Mr. Voss.” He strode out without another word. Elena exhaled shakily. She had just made a deal with the devil. And she would fight him with everything she had.
