She agreed to marry a billionaire for twenty million dollars. She never expected him to know her mother's secret.

Amelia Hart needs money to save her family's future. Alexander Sterling needs a wife to protect his billion-dollar empire.

Their solution? A one-year marriage.

No love.

No questions.

No real feelings.

At least, that's what Amelia believes.

But moments after signing the contract, Alexander's young son sees her and recognizes her from a photograph hidden inside the Sterling mansion.

A photograph of Amelia's mother—a woman who died fifteen years ago.

Suddenly, Amelia begins to question everything.

Why does Alexander know her mother?

Why was her photograph hidden in his family's home?

And why did Alexander choose her?

As Amelia enters the glamorous and dangerous world of the Sterling family, she discovers that her marriage may be part of a secret that began long before she ever met Alexander.

She thought she was marrying a billionaire for money.

She never knew she was marrying into her mother's darkest secret.

The Marriage Contract
Episode 1: The Marriage Contract Amelia Hart had expected Alexander Sterling to offer her money. She hadn't expected him to offer her a marriage certificate. The document lay between them on the polished marble table. MARRIAGE AGREEMENT Amelia stared at the words, certain she had misunderstood. Then she looked up. Alexander Sterling sat across from her, perfectly composed in a black suit that probably cost more than everything she owned. At twenty-six, he had inherited one of the city's most powerful business empires—and apparently, a problem money couldn't solve. “You want me to marry you?” “For one year.” Amelia almost laughed. “You don't even know me.” Alexander's gaze remained fixed on hers. “I know enough.” There was something unsettling about the way he said it. Amelia glanced back at the contract. Twenty million dollars. Enough to settle her family's debts. Enough to save the house her mother had left behind. Enough to make the desperate choice in front of her almost impossible to refuse. But there had to be a catch. “Why me?” Alexander was silent for a moment. “My grandfather left specific instructions in his will. If I'm unmarried before my twenty-seventh birthday, I lose controlling ownership of Sterling Holdings.” “So this is about the inheritance.” “Partly.” “Partly?” His expression hardened. “There are things about my family you don't need to know.” Amelia frowned. “That sounds reassuring.” For the first time, something almost resembling amusement touched his eyes. “You'll have financial protection. Your family will be taken care of. We remain married for twelve months. Then we separate quietly.” “And nobody discovers it's a fake marriage?” “Not a single person.” Amelia looked at the contract again. Twenty million dollars. Her mother's house. Her family's future. She picked up the pen. “Fine.” Alexander's eyes narrowed slightly. “You're not going to ask for more?” “No.” “Why?” Amelia met his gaze. “Because I don't want anything from you except what you promised.” Something flickered across his face. Almost guilt. But it disappeared so quickly that she wondered if she'd imagined it. She signed. Alexander took the pen and added his signature beneath hers. Two names. One agreement. One year. Amelia released a slow breath. She had just become the secret wife of Alexander Sterling. Then his phone rang. He glanced at the screen. The calm expression vanished from his face. “What's wrong?” Amelia asked. Alexander answered. A frightened little boy spoke through the phone. “Daddy…” Alexander stood immediately. “What happened?” “The woman from the picture is here.” Silence. Amelia's stomach tightened. Alexander slowly turned toward her. “What picture?” she asked. The boy's voice came again. “The picture you told me never to touch.” Alexander's face had gone pale. Amelia stood. “Alexander?” He ended the call. For several seconds, neither of them spoke. Then his eyes met hers. “The photograph of your mother.” Amelia froze. Her mother's photograph? In his house? “That’s impossible,” she whispered. “My mother died fifteen years ago.” “I know.” The way he said it made her blood run cold. Amelia took a step toward him. “How do you know anything about my mother?” Alexander didn't answer. Instead, he looked at the marriage contract lying between them. And suddenly, Amelia wondered if she had misunderstood the entire deal. Maybe Alexander Sterling hadn't chosen her because he needed a wife. Maybe he had chosen her because of her mother. To be continued…
