Liv
We tried so hard to just ignore the banging. We know blocking the link may cause it but we needed us time. That's not neglecting our people.
Hearing noises go from the study's door to the bedroom's door. I can clearly tell who it is. My mate ask and I hoped they'll just go away.
Nope.
The person used magic and had the door unlock. Travis sprang up to cover my nude body and roar at the person.
"Pétard!"
"Hell no! You're two seconds from getting kill and she won't save you!"
I don't bat an eye. I simply rubbed them from my slumber. Perry's mark went to me, then Travis, then to Mason who struggles in feral knees.
"Let him go, Perry. You know that's only gonna make him shift." I yarn in a low warning. As he listen I order him to apologize.
He fought but in a pathetic way he did. "Now tell her!" He yelled at Mason. They argue the whole time outside the door. I had heard them.
"Can't you see they don't want to be disturbed. You don't have a saying."
"Yeah, well, she does."
"Will someone talk!" My mate shouted.
All eyes met. Both waiting for the other to speak. I shifted up and had the covers wrapped over me. I looked at the one person who had the guts to just say what isn't being said.
"Just say it. What is it, Perry?"
Locked eyes full of frustration and worry, he answered. "That Luna is back. And she asked of you. It's this asshole ju-"
"Wait outside. We need to dress without an audience." I demanded.
To my surprise Perry didn't comment on that. Nor did he smirk. He seems so piss that I was in the dark. And from a close love one.
As we were told Syline and her Beta was waiting for us. The b***h smiled as we approached. Like this is friendly.
"Oh, so good to see you. Did we break in while you chopped down on your own people?" She giggled.
Not a soul laughed.
"Did you come here to offer yourself?" I retreated. Quickly, her giggle left.
At this time she was now closer to our line. We stood not far. Travis more than us. I had Perry as watch dog since Gamma is resting and Beta is ordered elsewhere.
Syline took her eyes off me and turn her body to my mate who clearly can't stand her presence. "Such a snapper. If only your father was lucky to have a mate that's more of a mouth. Ha. Her quiet lips only got her a short life."
Her remark was dangerous. And Travis showed that when his hand wrapped around her throat.
Her manic mind showed how unthreatened she was.
"You Armani men think you can mishandle me. Ha, you men are so trigger by her." Travis squeezes tighter. "If it didn't scare me when Vio did it then you little Travis won't."
"You have no right to speak. After all, getting pregnant by her husband got you nothing. You, Syline D'Muse, are a foolish b***h even now. You believed an old man for what?"
"A promise is-"
"It was a lie! He used you! He got what he wanted and thrown you out. You came back for nothing but the same." You can see how hurt she was by Travis's words.
Quick, her Beta ask him to step back. Travis growls. "Be smart and take what you should. Make the call and throw this harlot out on the sake of your family's name because anything of Armani will do is sent you all to the grave. Ha, I mean look what happen when you tried to mix. Faith was set when you open your legs."
Looking at her disgusted. Syline's eyes showed a flaw. That's when he let her go.
Syline did step back after the assault. She only smiled sickly.
"Pétard. Look." Perry grabbed my arm.
Before I scold him, I saw what he did. Looking back I notice it now. The swirl of magic trying to invade my mate.
My eyes glowed. Flinching my hands up. I trap the swirl to pull away and perish it. I saw the barbarian manner. Leaching out his wolf with no control.
"You dare touch what's mine." I warn her and her hidden witch. She clearly has one to set this spell.
That's when Syline moved closer to her Beta. She was afraid I'll target her now that there's an opening.
"Ahh, smart girl." She claps to me. An unhumorous way. "Don't worry, there's others I can get close to you, Luna, haha. By that you have many witches in option for me. All who can get close to you. And see ill."
"Was that why you came? To strip his humanity away or is there point for this?"
Syline open her mouth but was interrupted but her own Beta. "We seek out a member. My son."
Scanning him I try to recall the Phoenix Sons's Beta to have a son.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did your Luna lost another puppy. We can't help." Travis poured.
"Alpha, he came once only with the heir. Did your people-"
"Now, that's none of your business. Next time, put a tracker on your mutts."
The Beta nod as if he understood Travis. He held pain to that respond. Yet, Luna Syline seemed so bored by it.
"Well, nice chat. Let's do this again, pretty girl. Ciao." Syline pats her Beta's cheek. He retreated with his Luna to where they hide out.
Closing the gate. My instincts wanted to ensure Travis didn't get trapped by this witch. He touches my fingers that danced on him.
"Bitches will do bitches things."
"Funny but too close." I warn him.
Travis kisses my head. Resting it on his chest. "There's nothing to worry about when I got you."
I hum to that thought. My presence is hurting him the most.
I lift my chin to see his brown hues. Knowing that's all I need to know he's mine. His just tells me it's home. Between war it's home.
The touch of him tracing my face sent such a light. Our bodies didn't tremble. Soothing myself he caress my skin.
"Come, baby. We're going to see your aunt and sister." I nod. My eyes closed and open slowly.
My mate read me just right. I need to see them. And our people needed to too.
"Let me call first. I know Alpha Xion has been quiet but his last email was odd." He stated things was coming down. That this witch had something on my mother. Seemed like a plead for help. Yet, he was being crypted.
"You deal with family. I'll go to Xion."
After my attempt to reach out. Neither one had answered. Mable didn't like phones but she answers. But Mery. Mery will always call me back. This time she didn't. Odd.
Travis. Brush my hair down. "I'll go tell everyone we're heading to Luminis. I assume your pet will join."
He glares at Perry who stood just behind us.
I cup his sharp jaw and kiss his cheek. "I'll call again. Go on."
Travis leaves. As he does I felt two jabs to my sides. Perry jumps to my right to poke me.
"I got you something." Perry had such a cheerful smile.
"You shouldn't be buying married woman things. Do you not understand?"
He chuckles at me. "When I came back from shopping you were busy. I had a Delta put it in your room. I knew you won't follow me to mine, alone."
I don't say anything. I search him to see what he had said. I can only assume his gift was something inappropriate.
Not wanting to entertain him anymore. I said one thing. "Come on."
As we drive to Luminis. I start to worry. I was still unable to reach them. And what sets me off balance more is my connection with Mery.
The ring Father had gifted us wasn't just some ring. It allowed us to sense the other. I know she's alive by just that. And she can sense that too.
But then out of no where I had this drift. I tried to feel for her through its own magic but nothing. I was drawing blanks. I know for sure she would never taken it off and that's the only way to disarm it other than death.
She can't be.
I cleared that thought out quick. It had to be something else. It just had to.
Entering Luminis, I felt a small woeful. Something was different here.
Before I took further steps a hand intertwine with mine. "I won't be long. Call me once you find them." We share a nod. My mate brought our heads to lay together. Knowing he senses the same tension. "Trust your gut Elizabeth."
Travis takes the car with Beta and heads to the bayou. Xion seemed worry about something and I had no time to entertain him. Besides that he'd been silent. Even Lou hasn't reach out.
"Shall we look for Mable or Meredith first?" Perry asked.
"Both. Really."
Just then a joyful voice sprang into the air. And my heart filled. "Ah, my goblin, has come home early."
"Mable." I breathe.
I embrace her with such warmth. More so to know she's not..I'm glad to see her.
"I didn't expect you here until next month." She says. Mable embrace the others. Gamma's belly in the way. And Perry a gentleman.
"Mable, I tried to called, why didn't anyone pick up?"
Her face went long. "I lost my damn phone earlier. I'm sure Meredith had been collecting the calls."
I shook my head. Stating Mery hasn't. "I can't reach her. Her phone goes to voicemail. Have you seen her?"
Mable thought for a bit. "Hm, odd. She's glue to that thing. You kids all ar-"
"Mable, please, Mery!" I said a bit harsh. I know she gets so caught up but right now isn't it.
I try to ease my expression but couldn't today. "Not since this morning. She was busy hanging around with new boy. Last I heard they headed to the crops."
I breathe then. "Sorry for being rude."
"Oh no, don't be. Just join me for a meal later. All of you." Mable ask for so little. The offer was granted. "All right, run off. Find the missing goblin."
I laughed at her less manner. Waving us off as if we were peasants.
"Gamma, will you please go ask around. Link me with any update." She bows respectfully and heads off.
I turn to Perry next. "Perry, I need.."
"Oui, mon Pétard?" His face was too happy. My original idea for him cancelled just then.
"Nothing. Stay at my side." I try to make it sound less than the way he may of taken it. But whatever. An extra eye is good.
Walking more and more in I feel the draft still by. No one knew which way Mery was seen last. It grew the pit in my belly.
We went on pass the kids field. Mery hasn't walked by here to say hello like usual.
I pause for a moment and when I thought I had no trail. I scented her. I turn around but couldn't see her though. Until it grew closer to me.
"Hé, tu es toujours là. Je suppose que nous avons tous les deux trouvé une fille." (Hey, you're still here. I guess we both found a girl.) An unfamiliar witch says to Perry who willingly goes to the man.
"Oais, u le sais déjà." (Yeah, you already know.) Perry winked at me. His friend bows and continue their male conversation.
This witch wasn't familiar, I knew Perry brought him but I assumed he left. So, why is he still here and why in Moon Goddess sight is he here at Luminis.
I heard his heart beat quicken a bit. Even when his face didn't show him distress, his heart pumped like he did. And oddly enough, he smelled girly.
I didn't move from my first spot. I watch them speak. And he kept an eye from looking at me. It took long for me to caught his motive. At least the one I can't sense.
"What did you do to her?" I asked.
"Excuse me?" He reframed. Perry also gave me a look.
"I'm not gonna ask again. I can smell her on you and it's not just her perfume." It took a lot to not bare my fangs at the witch.
"Luna, you're mistaken I ha-"
"Tell me!" I shouted while my eyes turn red at his dumb cover.
"Is the girl Meredith? Did you-"
"I did nothing wrong." The man cut Perry's question. But I can tell he's lying. "Perry, she's insane, just like what people said. Cut that lose."
He quickly switch fast. Not wanting to get caught.
"Perry?" I called out his name.
He looked at me questionable. Never from the time I have known him has my tone ever been this strain. I gave him a pleaded look. Wanting him to believe me. His friend smelled like Meredith's blood. I can see a hidden claw-mark under his collar.
Without a doubt, Perry turn away from me and back to his friend. His arm grew in sight, blushing veins as he strangles his friend.
"Dude. What th-"
"Don't ever think you can harm her in any way." Just one snap and he's dead. I heard his heart stop the minute Perry twisted his hand.
I wasn't sure how to react just then. I thought maybe he'll threaten him to speak or even beat him. Far from that. Perry killed a long time friend like it was nothing.
Stepping away from the body he took my hand. Bringing me along another trail. "I know where she's at." It was all he said.
I wanted to thank him but thought that was the wrong thing to do. The whole trail there was silence. I allowed him to lead each step. I didn't even flinch back when he wrapped his arm behind me. Making sure I was at his side. Like my touch wasn't enough. He had to feel and see me all in one.
Out by a little shed. We found a hidden stable that no one uses. We quickly found Mery breathing and unconscious.
I gasp to the sight. Before running to her care. I wrapped myself over Perry. Draping my arms tightly at his neck. Respectfully, he didn't try to grab my ass. Just a soothing touch.
"Thank you for helping. Truly."
Again he kept silence. Nudging at me to care for my twin.
One of the worst guilt hit me hard. Seeing Mery on the ground. Her body looked like she was just thrown there. Left with no care.
I caress her flush face with the back of my hand. "I should have stayed away longer. You were better off." I sobbed.
Just a few drops of my blood. She came to. Thankfully, Mery was barely hurt and out of magic. Supposedly, he just let her on and when he tried to take things more without consent she fought him. That's when he drained her magic and left her body here. He even took her ring off and left it by her side. I guess he knew sense it.
Perry showed me the things he saw from his friend. Everything he knew and hid. All the stuff he thought of doing and how his plan went by. The guy did it to just help his sister who lives her in the state. They fell in trouble and he took the Luna Ceremony as a hit to get closer. Perry said the name Syline came up. So he and his sister are working for her. I ask if a Xion did too and he said no.
"The b***h just got to him and his sister. Oh well." He said a matter-a-factly.
"I should have known better. She found someone." I felt defeated guilt cage in.
"You can't control other's stupidity, mon Pétard. He saw an opening and took it. It was just the wrong one. Don't let his fall put you down."
I turn slightly to Perry. Wondering if he cares for his friend's death. "You shouldn't have been in a position you were in . Clearly you two were close." I apologize.
He stepped closer to me. I watch his movement and steady heart. He leans down to bring himself closer to me. I waited on the ground for Mery to awake. With no remark. Perry kissed my head with full care. I felt the acceptance from him.
"Don't clutter your mind with useless people." I saw in eyes he wanted to say more. And for the first time he didn't. But I sense it. Perry's hand fell to the side of my head to twist a strand of hair. A soft transition made to my chin. His thumb rested right below my lip. A few taps before he released me. "It was the easiest kill for me."
Really?
Just then a light gasp was heard. "Mery? Mery?"
She was groggy at first but after a few seconds it came to her. She covered her face, full of shame.
"Argh. I'm so stupid. I couldn't even fight him off." I try soothing her by combing her hair, just like Father did when she was little. "He just.. I really thought maybe.." She turn her eyes down to the ground."
"The guy is just a prick, small d**k too. You're better off, Meredith." The both of us gave Perry a look.
"Maybe he just found someone better, that's all." I can hear the insecurity in her tone.
"He just said all the right things. Called you pretty. Commented on your leadership and praise your dreams. He even sounded jealous to not be your mate and said so much more. Right?"
My twin who grew up the complete opposite of me now seems to feel a similar. One I wished she never felt.
"I just thought he meant it when he said he liked me. He was nice and I'm so.."
"Naive." Perry finish. I gave him a look to be less harsh. "Guys like him just prey on girls that are easy to trick. You shouldn't believe a word they say unless they prove them by action."
"Maybe. I'm just not most guys type. They always looked for the other girls. That's why I focus on Luminis. If being sweet was just.. Ugh. I don't know how you do it, Livy."
My brow turns. "Do what?"
"To be tough. To be the person whom doesn't get that look of doubt. I tried and all I get is my aggression."
I tried hard to not laugh. "I kinda had no choice. Most of us don't. There's other ways besides aggression and you'll find yours probably with it." I chuckled. Mery has grown to have some anger problems. She just gets a bit too frustrated.
"I'm trying, Livy. It all just feels like I'm screwing up. I'm trying to have my path, to be my person." She breathe hard. "But who am I?
I stop combing her hair and pulled her up from the ground. "You are Meredith Marshall. That name means so much things. You won't find out in a day. So don't stop trying." I cleared her face from the tears " And if you ask me. You are one amazing girl that I get to call my twin."
At the end of this guilt my twin finally felt a hope. She curled her lips and jumps to hug me tightly. "Thanks, you guys."
After cleaning up all the tears. We headed back.
"For twins, you two won't born with the same hair color, why's that?" Perry asked as he walked us.
"We did once." Mery said in a skip. Perry widen his eyes for more. "We were born with brown hair. As we got older it started to fade. Just like our father's did. His side ran on brown and blonde. I got the blonde side and Livy got the brown."
"Most people don't believe that part nor do people believe Aunt Mable is a natural brunette who dyes it red."
"Oh really?" Mery hums in agreement to his surprise.
"Given that it gave everyone a reason for my shun. Everyone believed since birth I was the twin born from evil and will only bring darkness among us." It boost the hate on an innocent child. I was a child.
"Ha, jokes on them. They missed out." I looked up to give him a harsh glare. Wrong move. Perry took the opportunity to wink at me. I flash my red eyes to warn him, which only made him laugh like it was a flirt.
Fucking i***t has a loose screw in his head.
"You see what I mean. Look at her." Returning back Cherry was starting things in our absent.
"Ugh, really?" I said so softly only Mery and Perry could hear me.
"She's ruining the balance. We all felt it. The ground shook and the sky was a frightful view. Evidence after evidence has been shown. She'll damn us all. Look what she has done to her sister."
They gasp as Mery had blood on her blouse. And only a small amount at her lip. She hurries to clean it up.
"Cherry, I believe it's time you stop talking before you damn yourself." I warn her once too many times.
"Forget the fact she's powerful. She holds a gift that shouldn't be given. We all knew she was never one of us. She will never look after our lives, only the beasts. Her kind and theirs too. It's unforgivable." Cherry shiver in disgust at the end.
I step closer to Cherry who brought a crowd around. Mery tried to stop me but her told her it's fine and stay with Perry.
"She was born with such wickedness. Sinner from birth. She craves one thing selfishly. She doesn't care for anyone unless it suits her monstrously thirst."
Making my presence know to her circle. She turns to me.
I gave her one last speech. Waiting to hear how she ends her so call hate. "All these people you claim, what do think you're doing?"
With that I knew she feed everyone on the rumors that hit every land. When I'm not near she took her shot. And she did well.
I stood my ground. I was not amused out of all days. "They will stand tall with their Luna and rise." I says proudly and everyone cheers in joy.
Luminis and all my people here cheers to their Luna. Gave me the decision to make.
"You, Elizabeth. You're worst than your own damn mother.." Containing her fit. I grow ever so tired. I swans my hand up to paralyze her in place. She gasp in the sharp pain I sent.
"And here I thought you adore Sage. Now, I'm seen as her daughter. Hilarious." I sent a fake chuckle in the air.
"She. Helped. You. Damn. Vampire." She choked.
"Oh-oh, Cherry. Wrong." I twisted my hand to strengthen the pain. She cried out. "After all the times you have been forgiven. You only damned yourself. But allow me to help one last time."
Her eyes sent not one nice remark. And she's smart to not.
Bringing my second hand up. I swim up every liquid in her body. It swirl inside her until she was nothing but filling. In other words Cherry drowned in her own words.
She tried to crawl her throat open. To breathe out her nose but it did little to nothing. In seconds she was lifeless on the ground. Watering the ground she was never accepted from.
"And now, we have peace. Enjoy your days people." I said so classily.
In a small look around, Cherry's two friends cried at the side of her recently found mate who just looked nothing but disappointed.
I looked pass it all and return myself back to Mery and Perry. Mery had just hang up the phone.
"Sexy." Perry said in his accent.
Ignoring him I turn to my twin.
She had an odd look. "It's your husband. Something's up at the bayou."
I restrain myself from stomping my foot. "God damn today."
I ordered Perry to stay here as a loyal friend he claims he is. And if there's trouble, get Gamma.
The slug obey for once while Mery and I drive up the bayou to meet Travis and Mason.
