Travis
We scooped every inch of this swamp, and we've found nothing living. We didn't smell anything out of the ordinary but a musky swamp smell plus a hint of burn flesh and wood.
"Hey, they're here." Mason shifted back and quickly puts some shorts on.
Knowing Meredith's sensitive virgin eyes she'll throw a fit.
Meredith's car parks next to ours. Her crazy driving almost hits mine. My eyes widen and I hold it in me to not shout. Even Mason's low gasp said the same.
I held my hands out in instincts. Walking closer, it was my wife who got out the drivers side. And I couldn't bite my tongue completely.
I took the car door and deeply glare at her. "Damn it, woman. This is why I drive you, you have to slow down before you come to a stop."
She rolled her eyes and walks pass me to see what we had been dealing with.
"What the hell did you animals do?" Meredith slammed the door.
"Oh, shut your mouth and use your witches senses." Mason huffed rudely and I understood him.
Closing the car door my Elizabeth took my hand as I lean down to kiss her presence.
"Go easy, she had a day too." I narrow my eyes to ask more. She only shook her head. "We'll talk later."
I walk toward the mess with the girls and Mason. "Doesn't take a scientist to know what happen. But we checked just in case." Mason informs them.
Meredith look around her surroundings, trying to sense some spiritual thing. While Elizabeth goes to aspects the actually mess.
She touches the ashes and rubs the fragment on her fingers. She also takes a sniff and makes an odd face. She continues to look and do her thing.
After a couple of minutes the girls seem to be done. Elizabeth looked at the burn home once more.
"Anything?" I ask.
"Just one." We all looked at her. "With the amount of death I sense, the blood, and burning flesh. It looks like the whole pack was burn alive. I got a small tint of magic. And if I had to guess, Xion's witch got fed up and locked them all in."
"There's no prints outdoors to indicate anyone running out. That'll make a whole lot of sense." Mason blurted out. All the tracks we found were old but none were near the home.
"Hm." She nods. They take another step closer to the home.
Meredith tries to now move her feet around. Doing so she saw something. Calling us over. "Look at this."
"Oh, yeah, we saw this. Just some brooch." I said.
I bend down to try to grab it but my mate grabbed my arm. "Wait."
"Liv, it's just junk." She shook her head to Mason who was confuse.
"Mery, does this look familiar to you at all?"
Meredith looks at it more. Using a stick to clear it out. "Kinda. But Mother never wore this one before. Why you think it's here? She's dead."
"It's the witch Xion has been talking to. Didn't you say he was blabbing on about her knowing Sage?" I ask my mate who had shown me the annoying emails.
"Yes. And from what I can tell. No, this isn't Sage's." She takes the stick from Meredith. Making a clear spot for it.
"But it's similar. We should take it and-"
"No one touches it." Elizabeth shouts at her sister who flinches.
She breathes out her words before straightening her back. I step closer to bring my hand to massage her tense shoulder. "Words, baby. Words." She nods to my soothing voice in her ear.
"This brooch has something connect to it. It's faint. Given what we know, this witch has some kinda tie with Sage. And this proves it. I don't know what. But I also don't care. I don't want neither of us to concern ourselves with it unless it becomes a problem."
Mason and I both agrees. Believing she chose right. But of course not soft Meredith. "Livy, this person knows something. What if there's more to it? She may not even be as ba-"
Elizabeth rose her hand that stopped Meredith's nonsense thinking.
"Anyone that has relation with Sage is no good. All this witch did is stomped a big bug out our lives-"
"She might com-"
"Then we will deal with it. Otherwise, if we stay clear from this brooch and make it known we don't give a damn of this witch's existence, then she'll just go away." Meredith tried again to speak but Elizabeth stopped her. "It's not something to concern about. Xion's pack dead with no connects to us. Let's not make it our business." She stated as she takes her sister's hand.
Meredith seem stubborn in the topic. Which I don't understand why. With the way her mother raised her how can she think this way.
"Let's hope the b***h left already. The forest needs some quiet." Meredith finally accepted her sister's demand. Even when her eyes glued on the brooch she stepped away in her weak defeat.
Only a short few hours, we began to return home. Elizabeth seemed happy to see her family. And seeing them both alive brought back a joy in her. Her shoulders drops and I couldn't wait to just nuzzle up against her mark to keep that smile.
"Are you boys full?" Tugging at my arm.
I tilt my head, rising a sharp brow. "Depending on what's on the menu?"
She giggle at my remark. Which turn me on.
"Dirty." Bringing her head back up from her embarrassment. "I was thinking I make some sweets. I haven't baked in a while."
"Whatever you want, we'll eat. But just remember the cooks can do th-"
She slaps my arm away. "We've been through this. I'm taking advantage of that large kitchen. If you don't like my cooking that's fine. I know a wolf who does."
I park the car and walk my way around to open her door. Crossing her arms, she refuse to get out. I lay my arm against it and waited for her to look at me. Which wasn't long.
"I know what you said. You have your cooking days as you requested. Plus, that's my food. I don't want you taking my leftovers to Mason. If you made it for me and me only. He doesn't get any."
She takes one foot out and finally got out the car. Flaring my nose to remind her everything that she does is mine. That includes her meals.
"Then you should finish them. Otherwise, he gets them. You can't be greedy when he had my cooking first." She pats my chest that puffs up possessively.
I gripped her wrist to keep her in place. "If it's not a group dinner, it's mine. Just like you. You and everything about you is mine."
Taking her hand up I run my tongue up to her arm. Making a mark I nibble until she squints into me.
She folds so easily. She can never stay mad and out of all days I wanted to keep her like that.
Heading in with the others. I notice something was off. I got a link that was push back. Seeing a wolf near by with flare eyes and a group of matching friends, I knew.
He started to walk towards me and I linked Mason quick. "Get Elizabeth upstairs now. Don't let her see and if you need the syringe, get it." I demanded.
Mason eyes wondered. However, when he saw a group walking towards us he understood.
"You head inside. I'm gonna check on something." I tell my mate.
She tries to argue but I kiss her sweet lips. Wanting her taste to boost my energy.
I look up to Mason and whispered, "Go. Now!"
It was stupid, I know she would hear me. And I know how she would be. I just didn't want her to see what's about to happen.
Composing myself. I turn around to see fellow warriors and more leading up. The main source of it held a smug on his face.
"After everything you done, Alpha. This was the worst." I yawn in boredom. "Your family's name needs to be to stomped out. So accept my challenge."
My eyes cut to his brave words. Truly made me chuckle inside. "All right, sure." He was happy with that. And so was the crowd that rings up.
I cracked my neck and straighten out my spine. Relaxing all my muscle to prepare. "Let's not take long. I got a wife waiting for me tonight." I smirked.
He snarl at my remark. Like that was to offend him in anyway.
The warrior took one foot and aim at me. I switch over and had him run in the crowd. He wasn't pleased by my play. But I was. "What? You thought I'll make it easy for you. Ha."
"f*****g Armani." His eyes flicker and I c**k my fingers side to side. Reminding him that wolves surfacing is a valuation.
He tries once more and actually fought me like a warrior. Just too bad he wasn't as good as I.
I push back a kick. Making a second one come in connecting to my arm. I brush it off and as I do. Mason mind-links me.
"I did it, man. I had no choice."
By his voice I knew he meant the syringe. f**k, Elizabeth is gonna be beyond piss.
"Take her upstairs. I won't be long." I ended the link then.
The wolf tries to run up and I grabs him. Making my knee run into his stomach. My knee hit him twice and blood pours out. Folding over, the back of my hand hits his. He falls back and I give all my might to bring him to end.
He was a weak warrior. To not embarrass his title I landed a punch to his cheek before I release him.
Without his wolf's ability he was nothing. For every block I hit. Bruises in his face appear quick. He spit out bleed every time I effortlessly connected.
I couldn't help but grab his arm back. Stomping it down in a bad shape. He howls in pain. I fought the urge to yank it from his body.
Showing so early in the fight his defeat. Clearly, another wolf of his group couldn't have it. He stepped into the circle declaring his challenge. I wave my hand to accept.
"Damn. Is everyone dull today."
"Today has just been something, Malcom."
Now seeing this warrior was more fun. He actually had some good training with me. The other, not so well.
He broad his shoulders out. He seemed like a bear. And that's what I expect from a challenger. His eye chuckle in righteous.
Swinging his arm forward I block. He came down and fake a hit at my side. I push back and I smile happily. But like I said before I wasn't gonna take long when I got my wife upstairs pass out because these ungrateful assholes wanted to continue the ill of today.
Trying to knock me off my feet I jump out the way. He came in hot and swung at me nonstop. I block until I see his open spot. I took my arm to take hold of his. He aimed back and twist. He screamed and I grabbed his body to haul down heavily.
Out of breathe, I kick the warrior and help him up. My fist yank his body out. He was down and I know I can choose to kill him now. But no. He's my warrior.
In his mercy, I wrapped him arm around his neck. Nearly chocking him. He fought, and failed. I waited until he was close to passing out until I can throw him next to his pathetic friend.
I panted softly to their challenge. "Now that this is settle. There's changes being made." I bend down to watch as the fear filled their eyes. "The both of you are demoted after today. You are no longer Warriors until you can prove you can defend your Luna's honor."
"Why not just kil-"
I grabbed the first warrior's leg and claw into it. "Because." I growled until I see his submit. I nod happily. "The next time you see your Luna, thank her you're alive. Otherwise, this little act would have got you killed." Both males eyes widen.
Inside I wanted to demand for all the ungrateful rants to show their faces. I wanted to throw them all out despite the years they had here. They are not worthy to have such noble act from the grace she has done since she stood foot here. Witch or hybrid she'd never blinked a second thought. But them. They are all molded rants who won't make it without her.
In total truth. I kinda have their deaths set in another way. Something fun. Something new and maybe more her way of doing it. Even if I deeply just wanted to kill them right now. Peel their arms and legs right off.
I got up to my feet and looked around to see different reactions in my people. Some had shock, joy, and loyalty. I didn't see anything close to these two beside the woman kneeling next to them.
"That's it for today. It's late. Everyone enjoy the rest of the day with love ones. I stare down at the three wolves. "I know I will." My face stayed stone as I walk away.
My hand ball at the split of blood that stains my skin. I wipe the blood off and knew I stink more than usual. I sigh knowing I had to change and deal with one pissy mate.
"That's on you. Good luck." And I hope she understood my reason.
Heading up to my room. I wasn't shock to see the people there. Mason walked up to me first. Patting my shoulder.
"Those guys were always jealous."
Connie got up off the bed. I can see she was combing Elizabeth's hair. A small pin hit me to see her like this. Yet it had to be done.
"Here. She'll be less mad if your clothes didn't have blood after that." Connie held out my clothes and places it in my hands.
I can see Perry leaning against the wall and I choose to pay no mind. He didn't.
I went into the bathroom and removed my shirt. Turning on the water I splash some onto my face. Cleaning off any blood on me.
Changing into my sweatpants, I hear Elizabeth wake up and I feel her warmth of frustration. A stir of rage even.
As she starts to complain to everyone about the damn syringe. I open the door, her eyes met mine right away.
"You stupid wolves." She said
"Liv, we told you. He meant well." Connie defended. Shoving her arm back and Elizabeth begin to walk to me.
"No you all have a part in it. You can't keep me from s**t like this."
"I did nothing but ensure these guys don't try to kill you in your sleep. Clearly, all these werewolves are stupid as you say. They have no idea how lucky they are to have you. And doing that shit." Pointing at the half empty syringe. "That's not an answer." Everyone had the same annoyed look.
"Everyone get out. I need to talk to my wife."
As soon as everyone left, Elizabeth slaps me. I closed my eyes to take it in. I knew how she felt from the last time. I knew this was wrong but I couldn't have her there.
"How could you?" Hurt visible in her voice.
My eyes looked at her figure and she covered herself. "It's not your place to be. And your stubborn ass don't know how to obey so.."
She tries to hit me again, my instincts was faster though.
Locking eyes I took her hand and slowly places it over my heart. Letting her feel my heartbeat. It was steady. Not one skip. Her palm rested and she senses my mistake.
"Did you kill them?" She asked me.
I shook my head. "They'll live. For now."
She steps close to my body and I felt bad to accept it after my fault. "It was because me, wasn't it?"
Fuck, I hate that she feels this way. She carries guilt and no matter how many walls I knock down. There's another.
"No, this was me." Her face didn't seem to believe that. "Beside, Little Witch, their challenge was nothing. Look how quickly it ended." I laughed.
Her nose shifted to sense the last scent of blood. She's clever to know none was mine. "Even so. Is this normal? Ever since I came into your life all I've ever done was bring.."
"Hey, enough." Taking her in I held her close to my body. I let her melt into me, flowing an ease. "Everyone get's challenge."
Her body jumps to that. Rising her head her chin nails into me. "What are we suppose to do? There's no end to this."
Seeing her hues fade with waterline hurt. That was my guilt. It was my flaw in all of this.
"We do us. We are the only ones who can do this. It's gonna be hard. But if you keep those green eyes green with my love. I'll keep challenging wolves to give you your peace." I promise.
She tried to not smiled but I lean down and kiss her nose. Making that Elizabeth grin pop right up.
"Mm. I knew you boys would be fine. You're strong. I even sent my love to you before those idiots dose me again." She admits.
Pulling back a bit, I knew that boost of ember was hers. I felt it.
"See. How can I live without you."
"You can't." True so true.
"I'm sorry. Kinda." She frowned. "There's no more syringe. We promise."
"Good." She goes to her toes and kisses me. Her lips felt so hot. It was like pure magic swimming down and through us.
She's given me everything. And from this stressful of a day. This was not how it needed to end. So, I bent down and haul her over my arms. She did yelp in defend.
"Now, my Luna. It's time to make sure this day ended better than how it went."
Her brows dance. "Show me what you got, Alpha."
Oh, and did we.
