Jake told himself that he shouldn’t be so nervous about meeting Addie for lunch, that he’d done the really heavy lifting the night before when he confronted her at the casino and at the house she was renting. Still, he didn’t want to screw this up. While he was relieved that she hadn’t sent him packing, had even shared a kiss with him…a kiss that made him realize all over again how much he needed her in his life…he wasn’t so blinded by that one success to forget she hadn’t made any promises beyond this lunch meeting. But at least his brother had been right about one thing — while the delay in Provo had been annoying, losing a day of travel hadn’t made much of a difference. Addie had a job and a house…he wanted to know how the hell she’d managed to land someplace so nice within a few days
